No potato feast, just famine
 

Unbelievably an amazingly good crop of Jersey potatoes rot as they're too BIG!
While some heat or eat and rely on food banks an entire crop of spuds go to waste as supermarkets say consumers won't want them... unbelievable!

'Tim Ward, sales and distribution director at Albert Bartlett potatoes, said his firm aims to produce potatoes no bigger than 50mm in diameter.
He said any larger and customers gripe about having to slice them into pieces to cook them.
He said: 'We’re producing plenty of potatoes the right size but a good percentage have gone beyond that.
'The quality is exceptional but sadly people don’t want new potatoes the size of baking potatoes.'

What a disgusting waste of perfectly good food,...... and with a third of the World starving it is even more obscene.

I like big tatties. :)

But they could easily be sold to large Catering organisations who make mashed potato or sliced potato or a hundred other potato dishes......

No excuse for this waste.
