I Used To Believe...

I found this pretty funny website, (dont ask me how) of what people believed when they were younger:
Click here to see it! :spin2:

What did you all believe when you were younger? Im going to have to grab my thinking head and WILDCHILD will get back to you but please - tell all people!:colour::dance::elephant:

BRILLIANT

I like this one .......
Bananarama's song "Love in the First Degree" has a line that goes; "Only you can set me free, 'cause I'm guilty, guilty as a girl can be" which I always thought was "'cause I'm guilty, guilty as a coco bean"! Why?.........Why would a coca bean ever be guilty of anything!

I used to believe that the whole world was in black and white in olden days, because old photos are black and white!

Great site Wildchild.

I have no idea where I got this from, but when I was about 6 I used to think that there were only 100 people in the whole world. :conf:

I used to think that in the year 2000 we would all live in the sky and cars would fly :blush::blush:

I also thought that there were really fairies at the bottom of the garden so i never went to the end of the garden just incase ( the thought scared me  )

I also used to have this really confusing theory that is really hard to explain. Basicly there was like this wish thing which went round every person in the world. So it would be "on" someone and would be "on" them until they made a wish, then it would grant that wish and then go on to the next person etc. I thought that if you wasted your wish you would have to wait for everyone in the world to have a wish before you could have a wish again. I tried to never make stupid wishes. But once i wished my hamster would die so i could get a cat and the next week it did :bawling::bawling::bawling: i was really upset because

a) my hamster had died
b) id lost my wish :bawling:

I used to believe there were crocodiles under my bed because my big sister (+5yrs) told me there were.

She also told me she was a witch and she was going to send me away if I didn't do everything she said.
:bawling::shocked::bawling::bawling:

I didn't dare to 'tell on her' because the consequences were too terrible to contemplate.

So: I couldn't get out of bed unless she was there with her magic 'wand' ( I think it was the copper stick) and spells, because I thought the

would bite my legs off.

There were good and bad outcomes for this.

GOOD: I learn bladder and bowel control par excellence at a prodigiously early age

BAD:
I am a seriously disturbed adult in need of deep and probing psychoanalysis.

I have informed my sister that she has blighted my life and told her she is personally responsible for my inability to diet successfully.

She is probably to blame for my Paul Clarke obsession as well, but she has enough guilt to deal with for now
:thumbs::laugh::thumbs:

AND I think the additional guilt would be assuaged by her hysterical laughter!

(BTW, I am STILL a bit nervous of what is lurking under non-divan style beds )

I used to believe in the general theory of evolution until I came across the actual evidence - But I do not think this thread is the place to discuss Creationism versus Evolution

When I was a little girl I used to go to sleep lying on my tummy [I still do that ] on top of a LARGE selection of soft toys [I don't do that bit any more !] including a lumpy black dog bought for pennies at the church fair. I believed that if any were visible something terrible would happen and they wouldn't be there in the morning.Untill I fell asleep I constantly pushed them back in from where I imagined they were slippping out. I am sure a psychologist would have a 'field day' with this !

Alittel boy at a church I used to go to thought God's Christian name was Peter. When his dad asked why, the boy replied

" we say thank you to him every week"

He was refering to the phrase

'Thanks be to God' which he heard as

'Thanks Peter God !'

This is a 'true one ' as I heard it myself.

ROB, your post has reminded me that I used to think there were monsters under my bed as well.

I had a rug at the side of my bed and I always had to jump from the rug into bed, without touching the carpet otherwise 'they' would get me.

I hate to admit this but I honestly believed that if you ate an apple pip an apple tree would start growing inside you. It worried me for YEARS!!

To all teachers out there - I used to believe that every thing they said in a classroom was scripted and learnt the night before. I didnt think about the fact that people would ask them questions, I just figured it was all part of the 'script'.:flower:

When I was little I believed that thunder meant that God was moving the furniture around, when it was raining he was watering the garden and lightening meant he was switching the light on and off. Snow meant that he had mixed some soap powder in with the water.:hello::nono:
