Pensioners peaceful protest footage.

A grandfather in a peaceful protest against cuts to travel passes was dragged towards the ground by FIVE British Transport police officers and arrested.

In the harrowing footage, a woman in the background can be heard shouting: "Leave him alone, he is an old man, just talk to him."

I'm a police supporter but I can't justify this :(

No Kizzy we can not see what went on before they filmed that.

Typical of you

Like the BBC
only half the story

What happened before is irrelevant, the issue is the unreasonable force used after.

Have an opinion on the issue or don't comment.

Have you heard of the term 'reasonable force'... How would it apply here?

Can what they are doing be considered proportional to the threat?

It doesn't matter what he did, I doubt very much he took on 5 officers.
Nothing excuses that heavy handed approach.

Read the story.

"Both men have been charged with obstructing a police officer, whilst one of the men has also been charged with fare evasion."

Neither was charged with assaulting a police officer, therefore, he clearly did not "attack them".

It's absolutely shameful and a terrifying indicator of where this country is headed. The right to peaceful protest? Not in the UK. The message is "bend over and spread your arsecheeks, and keep quiet about it, or you're going to jail."

I'd gladly HALF my income for an independent Scotland if it meant getting the **** away from this madness before it truly gets out of hand.

I agree Kizzy , to act in such a violent manner to an elderly gentleman making a peaceful protest is utterly deplorable.

What goes through the mind of these policemen, you just don't treat people like that .. Unacceptable ... Always

Sick of reading stories like these.
