[A SCHOOLBOY aged seven could face expulsion
after biting a pal during
a footie match — to be like Luis Suarez.

it was “what footballers do”.

kickabout — hours after watching
his Anfield idol Luis Suarez sink his
teeth into an opponent in the World Cup.

Staff saw the bite, which was
said to have broken the other
lad’s skin, and banished Harvey
from the “pitch” before cancelling
his break-times for the rest of the day.
Harvey pretends to be Suarez when
he plays footie. When teachers asked
why he had bitten the other boy,
the confused nipper replied:
“Professional footballers do it” — referring
to serial chomper Suarez.
Harvey’s stunned mum Kathleen Cooke
was called to Poplars Community Primary School
in Lowestoft, Suffolk — and told her son
was on a final warning.
That means he could be expelled
if he puts another foot wrong.
But fuming Kathleen insisted her
son is being unfairly punished for
innocently trying to copy his hero.
She said: “It makes me so angry.
My son isn’t a biter. He told the
school biting is what footballers
do — and he was talking about Suarez.
I thought what Suarez did was disgusting.
When I found out my son had done it too I was furious.
“We’re trying to teach Harvey right from
wrong but what are we supposed to do
when he sees his heroes doing things like that?
“Suarez is supposed to be a role
model — all footballers are — but he never acts
like one. It’s not fair on boys like my son.
“We’re terrified he could be expelled
and he doesn’t deserve it. If he is it will
ruin his life and it will be Suarez’s fault.” ]

If a child is in your care, and something unexpectedly messed up happens infront of them. Then it should be explained exactly why it is wrong to the child. My bet is the parents laughed at it, which in his head gave the child the ok.

His parents haven't taught him to not re-enact everything he sees?

Listen, When I was 8, I was allowed to play GTA 4. Before you say "OH MY GOD THE HUMANITY! WHY DID YOUR PARENTS LET YOU!" It's because my parents raised me well enough that they could trust me. I played GTA, A game full of Shooting, Death, and hookers. Did I renact anything? NO. Bad Parents not Bad TV.

Oh my god...it's not even close to bad parenting. It's something that probably happens in every playground every day, it's only an issue because of Suarez....parents will of course tell kids not to bite but you know what, sometimes kids do things they're not supposed to. Dear lord, calling someone a bad parent for what seems to be an isolated incidence is just crazy.

I never bit anyone in my life, i've never been bitten in my life. There is something wrong in the home if your child does that. Simple.

I dont agree. I have never bitten either but the fact of the matter is some kids do. Even at 7 they a whirling ball of frustrations, hormones etc and they are unable to express themselves sometimes which leads to frustrations that manifest in bad behaviour, be that temper tantrums, biting, sulking etc etc. If this child continues to bite without retribution it becomes a parenting issue. All toddlers bite when they are teething, no parent in their right mind allows it, because it bloody hurts so children are told biting is wrong.

Yes you have footage of footballers biting people on your telly box....

What on earth would expelling a 7 year old achieve. Regardless of what influenced him, the idea that they could just chuck him out of school instead of helping him understanding the rights and the wrongs is absolutely ridiculous. 7 years old.

..this is the Sun, right..?..so I don't think it's something you could really go on as being reported with any accuracy..and he was on a 'final warning' so there have obviously been several incidents, not necessarily biting but of hurting children because one incident would inly be a day or two exclusion and not a permanent one and I also know this particular school and their policies on behaviour..anyway, in general I do think it's a concern if a child is a 'biter' beyond the age of teething and something that would need to be addressed as a serious behaviour issue but I think the while football thing and association is really just nonsense tbh.....not that I would I take any of the story as anything other than 'slanted' ...

Totally the parent's fault, I watched all sorts on the TV when I was young but I knew better then to re-enact it.
