Accents

One of the most striking differences between Housemates is their accents, never more so than the wide spread on this series.

But we never ever see Housemates commenting on their different voices to each other. In real life there would be comments galore about a group's different ways of speaking. It seems incredible that they speak to each other, and apparently understand each other, as if they were all from the same street.

Is commenting on accents deemed politically incorrect?

Frankly I have trouble understanding someone in most episodes.

When Helen is angry she has no braking mechanism whatsoever on her language. She is perfectly uncontrolled, I would imagine that she would throw in some regional descriptions ("pigeon-chested southern jesse" or worse), I just can't imagine she is in such control as to filter out this way of speaking, which is widespread in Britain.

Do such comments really never happen? Or are they systematically edited out?

Thanks for the example, that's just the sort of generalising I mean.
