Isn't it time for Ashleigh to be given some real credit?

For the last 3 weeks she's had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at her and yet she has held it together remarkably well. I feel that she has been labelled an immature spoilt brat and that people have been so desperate to believe this they've blinded themselves from all the evidence to the contrary and failed to recognize what a strong person she is.

The fact is, for an 18 year old, she is very mature. She's in there with some nasty pieces of work, without any friends or family for support and yet she doesn't breakdown or cry much at all. On the contrary she seems to be unfazed by it. Further evidence of her maturity is the fact that she seems to be the person closest to the oldest and supposedly wisest housemate in there... Chris.

From the moment Toya was evicted, she decided to actually show some fighting spirit and try to get one of Helen's cronies up for eviction and bring some balance back to the house. She played the game, she manipulated the situation to her advantage and she did exactly what she was going to do. Had a man in her position done this I can't help but think he would have been cheered on and celebrated for challenging Helen's dominance, but because she is a pretty young blonde, some people turned violently against her and called her a sneaky bitch.

Thereafter they tried to set her up with the seance part of the murder mystery task which put a massive target on her back. Then her plan backfired when Matthew was evicted and there were huge chants of "Get Ashleigh Out". They then showed more footage of her conspiring and bitching in an effort to get the bust up they so desperately wanted between her and Helen & co. (including even bringing in the ghastly Judi James to lend her voice) and still she remained strong in the face of it all. She was put up for eviction and survived and over a week later she's still there after having lost another person she was close to.

The women on a series of Big Brother with the title "Power Trip" were never going to fare well, so isn't it about time people started praising one of the women for showing a bit of strength and determination in the face of all that's been thrown at her? She's weathered the storm, come out the other side and seems to made of steel.

Strength and determination of all that's been thrown at her? :joker:

Sorry, what?

Kazanne 19-07-2014 05:14 PM

Why,what's she done to get credit?

jessicadanielle 19-07-2014 05:14 PM

I absolutely agree, I have a lot of respect for Ashleigh. However, I do think the house has phased her slightly, in that she's put such a guard up that she doesn't seem to be able to let go and have much fun. She's succeeded in not letting the house get her upset and depressed too much, but it's a shame that this has come at the expense of having little fun and becoming slightly isolated.

Nevertheless, she's been a great hm so far and has shown a lot of integrity and independence, particularly for her age. I'm not surprised she's topping favourites polls. I'm hoping she's the last female standing, and would be really happy if she won

MeMyselfAndI 19-07-2014 05:15 PM

She's the classiest girl left in the house & the one with the most morals, she really is wise & acts well over her age :worship:

Like I said... Some people are blinding themselves from the evidence of what a strong character she is.

She's had half the people in the house and the eviction mob gunning for her. And remains unfazed.

Chuck her a sausage.

Ashleigh can be as nasty as the others when she so chooses and we have all witnessed it, I have no idea why anyone would think she should be given any credit more than any of the others?

Is it because of her age? because that IMO is just a stupid excuse and she herself hates anyone bringing her age up, ALL of the housemates are in there with no friends or family support so that excuse doesn't wash either...

She also never got Ash put up he was already in that position she just manipulated the others enough to not save him, her big plan failed in the end anyway probably because of her sneaky bragging in the DR about it all

If anyone has had a lot of **** thrown at them then Danielle is the perfect example with everyone she had to cope with this week but again none of them should be given more credit than any other, they are all struggling in their own ways in there.

MeMyselfAndI 19-07-2014 05:19 PM

It's very different being a teenager and it being your first time away from home/moving out, It's a lot more stressful/nerve wracking, so I disagree Josy

MeMyselfAndI 19-07-2014 05:20 PM

She's also been on the receiving end of group attacks, she actually respects herself & her family and does not join in the countless sex talks like Helen, Ash, Steven, Winston, Zoe do, she deserves a lot of respect & is very kind and does not isolate other housemates like the one's I've mentioned before, she was there for Chris/Christopher when they were being isolated, she really is a great person :worship:

It isn't her first time away from home, she travels a lot with her modelling.

She isn't the first young housemate to ever be in the house and even if she was she signed up for BB just like the rest of them and knew what to expect.

There is a housemate in there that actually has a child but no one is going to say she deserves more credit over any others.

All of them have their struggles why should Ashleigh be respected for coping more than the rest?

I don't see how. The worst she says about the others is how disgusting they are or just dismisses them as assholes.

Her age obviously comes into any discussion about how mature she is. For her age she is clearly very mature. Iain Lee, for his age, is very immature.

Danielle had one task in which her starring in a web cam show was revealed. That was it... Ashleigh has had 3 weeks of the people closest to her being evicted, been chanted at by the mob, had half the house against her thanks to them playing back footage of her not once, but twice.

Despite all of this, she has remained strong. Can you really not give this girl any credit at all?

Why would we give her credit for going on BB when she has a child? Especially when that person has acted the way she has.

Because she's actually had more thrown at her in the last 3 or so weeks. Helen by contrast has a free pass to the final. And Zoe has only just arrived.

The poor little angel has put up with a lot... oh wait no she hasn't.

Give her a spud and a pat on the back.

Omg

Danielle had **** thrown at her from the minute the newbies arrived.

The closest person in the house to Ashleigh from the beginning has been Danielle and she only left last night so she's hardly lost the closest people to her.

She has said a lot more than other housemates are disgusting but I will leave you to it because you simply cannot see any negative comments said about her at all.

And to answer your question yes I can give her credit but no more than any of the other housemates because they are all struggling to cope in their own ways.

As does every other housemate. They are ALL cut off from their family/friends/outside world/media. I doubt any of them have done that before.

See what I mean. These people cannot give her one bit of credit.

I kind of like Ashleigh. Can't put my finger on why, exactly... but I like her.

Yes they are, but Ashleigh has also had as much thrown at her in the last 3 weeks as anyone. And her age does and should come into it. She has shown herself to be a very mature and strong girl. All of the other housemates credit her for being a strong minded person.

I can give her credit, as I can for the majority of housemates who are on this show for several months.

But this praise you seem to think she deserves... for no reason whatsoever other than you're a fan is ridiculous.

But everything you say has no rhyme or reason so I'm not surprised.

Helen does deserve credit for sticking it out when she has a child at home, but the OP isn't about being in Big Brother, it's about all the **** Ashleigh's dealt with while being there. Helen (for example) hasn't had what she's said about other people played to other hms, and hasn't been shouted at because of it by someone older and a lot gobbier than her.

Also, the OP doesn't say Ashleigh deserves MORE credit than anybody else, just that they feel Ashleigh hasn't received the credit she's due for how she's behaved. Just cause Danielle also had a lot of **** doesn't belittle Ashleigh's reaction and behaviour.

Let's give her credit everyone. SHE'S OWWWNLAAAY ATE TEEEEN!!!

Well done Ashleigh, you've been alive 18 years. :clap1: Well done girl! Such an awesome housemate we can only praise her for when she was born.

You haven't picked anything I've said apart at all. Do you disagree that she's had a lot thrown at her over the last 3 week? Do you disagree that she's held it together rather well?

Helen has a free pass to the final, most of her closest friends are still there and she rarely, if ever, has anything about her revealed to the others in the house. And even if she did, she would be safe.

Compare that to Ashleigh times in the house, particularly over the last 3 weeks.
