That is my hobby. I don't often go out and get drunk or buy lots of swanky things, I prefer to spend my money on travelling.

GypsyGoth 01-08-2014 09:58 PM

Have a wonderful time and be safe

Are you backpacking around those places or just doing a bit of sightseeing in each of them?

I'm doing a tour for these places. Not quite sure what to expect and it's generally easier to do a tour. I'm doing a bit of backpacking around South Africa first from Cape Town to Jo'berg. I just need November to hurry the hell up and get here.

Excuse my ignorance, but I know South Africa is safe apart from crime being high, but what about Mozambique and Swaziland, are there any wars or anything going on in them?

smudgie 01-08-2014 10:36 PM

I would be very very careful of backpacking from Cape Town to Jo'burg.

Swaziland should be fun, never been to Mozambique.
Should be a fantastic holiday as long as you are careful Ben.

So lucky :(

Marsh. 01-08-2014 10:40 PM

Can I come with you? :(

I've been looking on Project Africa to do a bit of volunteering next year but I'm scared. :worry:

Swaziland is very safe to travel, probably one of the safest Africa countries (if not the safest along with Seychelles and Namibia) and is also regarded as being safer than the USA (but most places are tbqh).

Mozambique has some trouble but more situated in areas where tourism doesn't go and generally a low threat of terrorism, but the country looks so beautiful.

What type of volunteering you looking for? If Africa scares you look at places like Central America, Bali, Asia for alteranative volunteer projects

I don't know. Kids in schools/hospices is appealing. I'll do a search for the Central America ones.

Many many moons ago, as a child when we lived in SA.
Can't really remember much about it, I know it is a proper little Kingdom, oh yeah, and Richard E Grant was born there.

You can teach children in loads of places. Bali, Costa Rica and Argentina are good choices usually.
