Why do viewers these days seem to support one housemate and hate their opponent?
I like Ashleigh AND Helen. Infact i voted for them BOTH this week a couple of times.
Fair enough, i don't like them much as people, but as housemates they have been great. I dont understand why people on forums have wars and blindly support one housemate, whilst attacking another simply because they are that housemates rival. |
Electioneering. People think that taking votes off their rival will gain votes for their favourite. When the people who like Helen will never vote for Ashleigh and vice versa.
|
I never have on purpose. I hated Helen from the beginning and liked Ashleigh from the beginning. When they became 'opponents', I just happened to agree with most of what Ashleigh says and nothing of what Helen says, but it's not because they are opponents. I couldn't care less about that.
|
I want Ashleigh to win but I like Helen, too, as she's brought a lot to the series. She's been the complete central character throughout. She may be aggressive and nasty, but there's something about her, as a housemate, I like.
|
I don't have a passionate support for any HM really.
I just like Chris, Christopher & Ashleigh. But there is something about Helen that brings out the worst in me........... |
because people take the show too seriously
|
I don't, I like both of them, but I do get annoyed when people treat Ashleigh as a Saint while Helen's the Devil.
|
I hate nasty bullies. I don't hate victims. I support them. I don't change my morals and perspective on life just because I am watching a TV show. Helen is a vile human being.
|
Your right, its digusting the way opeople support the beautiful Ashleigh but hate on the bully-hag helen
|
What I find even more disgusting than Helen herself is that a national newspaper is actively supporting a nasty bully. That makes me sick to my stomach.

Always get rivalry towards the end, just seems a bit nastier this year.
Much more fun observing it all without an actual favourite, you tend to get a clearer view of things:laugh: Pav to win I say...least nasty one in there this year. Shame he went in so late and has no chance:shrug: |

Probably because they can only support Ashleigh because she isn't Helen.
There's not anything else to her. |
No one has been bullied this series personally for me, the only debatable one for me was Pauline on Jale, all the other stuff that's happened has been cruel and spiteful, but certainly not bullying, as I've said look at that episode of BBUSA16 and you would see what real bullying is.

whose side are you on when they argue and please dont say whoevers right, thats soo boring! |
It always happens. The favourite going into the last weeks always gets a hate campaign thrown at them if they reach the final, and it usually works, unfortunately in some cases.

I agree, finally someone with sense :clap1:
I get so bored of people every year taking sides in house feuds. We aren't living with them, we aren't their friends. Who cares whether your favourite doesn't like someone else? Or that someone insulted your favourite? It doesn't mean you have to dislike them too. You aren't them and you aren't living with them. It takes two to tango and it makes no sense to want one person that's a part of a feud or rivalry to be evicted since it then ends it? What's the point in that? By all means give your opinion on who you think is in the right and wrong - that's what this show is all about after all - but don't try and prevent those discussions from happening by taking a side and wanting the other person out. It happens every series - Callum and Dexter, Linda and Jim, Hazel and Gina, Ashleigh and Helen. It makes no sense. Just stop and appreciate what they all bring to the show. |

Helen isn't a bully to whoever said that, and its simply because I dislike Ashleigh.

Anyways, if I'm going to enjoy both sides of a feud I need to enjoy what they bring. I don't appreciate what Helen's brought and I've made plenty of posts about how her presence has really ruined the series. Similarly, Jim Davidson is a repugnant person and I never enjoy watching sexism play out on television in real time, I still don't know what Dexter brought to the show a year later and it seems like no one else does because everyone just insists he was great but then can never name any Dexter moments or anything, and Hazel was similar in that she just existed for Gina to administer physical pain to (and again, Hazel was horrendously awful at arguing so she's not the fierce bitch everyone tries to make her out to be.) I don't know, I think there's fundamental differences between those types of feuds and then feuds like Jungle Cats/Lip Gloss Bitches and Aisleyne/Nikki/Lea.
I don't know how I was able to type all of that because I'm still hysterically laughing at the notion of Frankie J Grande being bullied. If you're going to use BBUS as an example of Raw n Rull bullying, at least cite BB15 just to appear to have some credibility, ya know? |

The closest we got to that was Pauline and Toya when they were nominating Christopher and trying to brainwash him into feeling inadequate as if he shouldn't be there and had no right to be there at all. Nothing Helen has done is bullying, she has been aggressive, loud and very unpleasant but in no way bullying. |
People need a good guy and a bad guy.
Years of formulaic american movies has conditioned us to expect this classic set up. It's in movies, soap operas, even the news! and BB is no exception. The BB crowd - now more than ever - need someone to chant out each week. This year it has been Pauline, Toya, Helen, Ashleigh, Danielle, Steven and Mark who have all been in the firing line for the role of 'bad guy' at some point. And having identified the bad guy - we then look around for 'the hero'. Right now - Helen gets the 'bad guy' badge (aided by the BB tasks and edit) and Ashleigh has been given the 'good guy' badge. Even though a few weeks ago (after her 'evil plan' - Ashleigh was the bad guy) People then pour all their years worth of 'bad guy' emotions onto the current figure of 'bad guy' - hence we are now at the stage of people mentioning Hitler in the same breath as Helen on forums! People also excuse and ignore the bad traits of 'good guy' as they want their hero to be whiter than white as the good v bad scenario is played out before us. I have no doubt at all that if Helen had been evicted 6 weeks ago - there would be someone else in there right now filling the role of 'bad guy'. Probably Ashleigh or Chris. It's kind of unfair on the HMs who are pawns in the BB game of good v bad, but after 15 years on the screen - it's no surprise really. It began with Nick v Craig in series 1 and kept on rolling.. |
