Didn't see a thread. MS conference on now.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider coming to exclusively to Xbox One in 2015. I assume it'll be timed.

Ramsay 12-08-2014 12:54 PM

Yeah most likely timed. can't imagine Sony letting that one slip for long

Ryan57 12-08-2014 01:03 PM

Just found it it's not timed. 100% exclusive to the One.

So fantastic. The Sony fanboys crying on Twitter. :joker:

Ramsay 12-08-2014 01:04 PM

Wow, the people at Eidos are incredibly smart. Tomb Raider sold millions on release but was still considered a bomb for months since their sales targets were stupidly high and now they're taking the sequel which is obviously going to cost a whole lot more to develop and they're releasing it exclusively on a console with a dramatically smaller installed base than it's main competition.

They might as well make it an exclusive to Wii U since it'd make about as much sense as releasing it solely on XB1.

Dear Tomb Raider Community,
As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio.
Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.
This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.
We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we’ll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we’re going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.
Thanks,
Darrell Gallagher
Crystal Dynamics Head of Studios

Ouch

It's going to bomb so hard and serve them right, they've slapped the majority of their fanbase in the face with this announcement and I imagine they'll end up going back on it before long.

Might as well make it exclusive to the Wii U? Rofl. MS will of put in a hefty offer. It's been accepted it. That's business. There will be exclusive games and content throughout this generation. People will have to deal with it.

If Sony announced it as an exclusive there wouldn't be anywhere near as much fuss as there is about it on Twitter etc.

Ryan57 12-08-2014 01:48 PM

Quantum Break gameplay.

Because Sony wouldn't be excluding such a large part of TR's audience if it was exclusive since, if you own a next gen console, chances are it's a PS4. Last report I read about the sales of next gen consoles had Sony outselling Microsoft by four to one. Combined with the huge PC gaming crowd that's probably, what. 60/70% of TR's potential audience that's now been alienated? It's just dumb and I can't imagine it'll stick because total exclusivity of third party games are almost unheard of these days outside of Portable gaming.

Mark my words, Rise of the Tomb Raider will not remain an XB1 exclusive.

So both conferences were pretty diabolical. MS had nothing but shooters on show and Sony put far too much emphasis on indie games and they didn't give us hardly anything else.

Sony wins just because they had a bit of variety to their showing and it wasn't two hours of Battlefield of Duty: Combat Evolved.

PS4 and PC gamers, aka 70% of the Tomb Raider audience that they've just pushed to the side, of course they're pissed. Exclusives like this need to die out.
