serious question

I'm trying to lose weight and I've been eating super healthy today and I drunk 3.2 litres of water in the space of 2 hours. I've just ruined all that by eating a big bowl of salt&vinegar twists, I'm really pissed off with myself.

Should I go make myself sick or will that be dangerous to my health?

Jake. 12-08-2014 10:27 PM

Don't make yourself sick, that isn't the solution.. Start a diet which you know you can achieve, do some more execise (walk a bit more) and so on

I'm doing all of that but I just ruined it. :(

Don't make yourself sick because too much water could drown your cells and your body needs some amount of fat.

Go for a run in the morning :clap1:

Far too much water in a short space of time! And no please do not make yourself sick, just start again tomorrow and make sure you are getting some exercise

Marsh. 12-08-2014 10:30 PM

My god, don't be bulimic.

And the water, it's not a race to drink the most in the fastest time.

GypsyGoth 12-08-2014 10:31 PM

The best thing you can do is change your lifestyle, exercise more. See how that works after a few weeks. If that doesn't, then lower your calorie intake.

There is not quick solution, don't make yourself sick. That would be replacing one problem with a different one. Also getting sick like that damages your teeth.

No ,don't make yourself sick,it wont make that much difference as long as you pull back a little tomorrow.

Two days a week without food keeps you looking hot

Don't be so bloody stupid. I used to be very tubby when younger and I started that up and it is not a good road to go down. You can have treats every so often and in moderation. If you deprive yourself of treats then it is very hard. Try replacing things with fruit when hungry or getting a cheap blender and making fruit smoothies when hungry as this will fill you up.

Have one cheat day per week. Count today/tonight as your cheat day.

Samuel. 12-08-2014 10:42 PM

I have no idea to what extreme you're dieting, but I've had KFC at least once a week (as well as milkshakes and energy drinks daily) the past 2 months and I've lost 1 and a half stone in that time. You haven't ruined anything lul.

Get yourself to the gym if you can. Porridge in the morning, a fruit or two for snacks and pretty much whatever dinner I fancy is all I've had to cut down to to lose pounds every week along with a 20 minute jog most days.

It's easy. I think most people find it so hard because they set out a ridiculously grueling diet plan that isn't sustainable, mentally.

I just googled this and apparently there's such thing as a 5:2 fasting diet. However, wouldn't this cause your body to go into starvation mode or is that just a myth?

Anaesthesia 12-08-2014 10:52 PM

What do you mean when you say you are eating super healthy?

You need a good balance of protein, carbohydrate (starch) and natural fat. Nuts and cereals are a good thing to include in your diet, but it must be balanced, like, don't just eat salad with nothing else.

I fast one day a week but I have a tiny appetite generally... you must take into account your body mass and how much it would be healthy to lose over what period of time whilst still getting your essentials. Don't ever do fad or crash diets, just get some awareness f what your body needs and if necessary bulk up on fruit & veg & cereal. Slow release stuff like seeds and nuts and oats are brilliant at breakfast.

Whatever you do, don't try to change your diet drastically, do it gradually and allow yourself an occasional treat (like kfc :) )

Just burn it off tomorrow. Exercise is key

This Josh, this is really good advice from Cherie.

If you like apples at all, try having a couple of them when you feel peckish as well as eating your healthy meals.
Apples can ease the hunger feeling between meals.

do you work?

honestly, i used to try everything and the one thing that made me lose over a stone was getting a full time job. Obviously if you're still in education, dont do that.. but keep busy and dont stay in all day at home.

I think he's the same age as me so he could get a part time

Marsh. 12-08-2014 11:06 PM

You could try bike riding or swimming.

..it really is about changing eating habits and a 'lifestyle' more than dieting Josh...a diet is always depriving yourself from something and there is no need to do that but just eat the unhealthier stuff in smaller portions and more as a treat as we need treats as much as anything...also the more healthier stuff you eat it doesn't take long before that's what your body becomes used to and prefers ...no drastic things like non eating days unless you've checked with your GP...and although water is good for you, too much of anything isn't good ....

coffee 13-08-2014 07:37 AM

JoshBB there is a diet called rawtill4 and you eat unlimited calories!
It's a high carb, low faw diet and it really helped me a lot when I did it and it reallyyyyy helped my sister who continues to do it today!

It helped my sister more as she used to be borderline obese and now she is lean and has lots of muscle, her legs are like... WOW.

Anyway, the diet is to eat as much calories as you can really, my sister and I used to try for 5000 a day. You eat raw foods, ALL PLANT BASED! That means NO MEAT, NO FISH, NO BREAD, NO BUTTER... All the things you probably love. But you can still make things out of the plant based food. Especially after 4 when you can eat cooked food. I would always have banana and raw cacao smoothies, like 5 of them with HUGE SALADS before 4, after 4 I would eat cooked potatos with cayenne pepper on them and some boiled or roasted vegetables. NO OIL unless you wanna use coconut oil or almond oil.

I suggest you look up freeleethebananagirl on youtube for more inspiration. She used to be bulimic but was never thin because she's a binge eater and this diet is really good for binge eaters like me and my sister because all we do is eat eat eat and this diet is the MORE YOU EAT THE BETTER... As long as it's plant based.

Hope this helps you.
