What kind of reality?

In recent years I have been watching a lot more US "reality" shows than UK ones. The main reason for this is that in the US they tend to base this kind of show much more around Joe Public competing for the prize rather than the UK fad for Z-list celebrities.

Hell's Kitchen US and The Bachelor US are prime examples; we used to have members of the public in our HK, but it devolved into celebs. The Bachelor US has regular people looking for love, the UK had Gavin Henson and some bloke from Made in Chelsea.

I would much rather see the people be the stars and compete for something worthwhile...what do you think?

..I've always preferred the civilian UK BB to the Celebrity one...also because I prefer to know nothing about the housemates before they go into the house and just like to watch them interact from there but this time I'm more loving the Celebrity one, I find the characters more interesting and eccentric which are the type of people I love ..I haven't really watched any US reality though to compare....but with the US Batchelor..was that not all 'set' up as well..was it genuine..?..

Funnily enough, Ammi, and in complete contradiction to you (!) the UK CBB is the only one I have found remotely interesting since C5 took over, although I have not been watching the current series.

Is the Bachelor rigged? I don't think so,surely that would be way too cynical? Where real emotions are involved, and all that...some have started living together / got engaged / even married! My little heart just wants to believe that is real. I'm a hopeless romantic :)

But I am SO looking forward to the forthcoming Apprentice (UK). I can't even watch the US ones, they are excruciating. The cringe level on the UK one is just perfect.

Real people

...ahhh, I haven't watched any of the US one so I wasn't sure, buy yeah the happy ending is what I would be rooting for..I watched a bit of 'I Wanna Marry Harry'..is that a US or UK show, I think it might be US and I loved that..(the competitiveness of the girls but I don't think any of them were actually meant to 'get the guy' in the end..)....I did start to watch this US season of BB and managed the first launch show and then hopelessly forgot about it...I'm just not a huge TV/series watcher...

...Anaesthesia there are some great and eccentric characters in this CBB, I think maybe you would love it..?...

I have zero interest in Celebrity based reality shows. Could not care less.

Real people however, there's a curiosity there and you can relate easier.

I didn't watch "I Wanna Marry Harry", I thought the whole premise was a bit weird in that the girls thought the guy really was Prince Harry (apparently!) Is it worth a watch?

I did (half) watch the launch episode and the subsequent one of this year's CBB, maybe I didn't give myself a chance to get into it? I am intrigued by Gary Busey, I am a huge boxing fan so Audley and Kellie also appeal, but I am vaguely repulsed by White Dee and I don't think I know who anyone else is. Maybe that's a good starting point!

I have read a lot of your posts and I think you have good judgement, so maybe I will persevere...

And you can really will them to win, because you know, if they do, it could change their life / lives.

..I think you will like Frenchie in CBB as well, she has the most amazing French accent and only ever wears pink and owns pink...what's not to love..?...also James who is incredibly self absorbed/very unlikeable so one of the best housemates we've had for a while...

...I would definitely recommend I Wanna Marry Harry, they do genuinely believe that he's Harry and that possibly they could become royalty and the competition/bitchiness of the girls is so funny.....

Schadenfreude at naivete...I could go for that  Sounds like The Bachelor on steroids...
