How have your parents influenced your taste in music?

Growing up, I listened to a lot of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Annie Lennox, Kate Bush and Abba... I still love all of them now. I'd like to think that these artists made me like all different types of music and I wouldn't change that for anything.

Do you like the same music as your parents?

Nah not my parents, they're not music people, I get the most of my taste from my brother, he was always listening to people like Marvin Gaye, The Temptaions, Al Green, Lionel Richie, Luther Vandros, Michael Jacksonn, I get my love of soul music from him

I like a lot of old 80's stuff and ska because of my dad

Probably a lot, my next brother to me is old enough to be my Dad, I loved the songs my Grandmother did and I was brought up in a home where from my Parents and Brothers music of the 60s and 70s were what I heard in the main.

Obviously the music I really liked from those periods have stayed with me and I have also the modern interest as to music too for myself but yes, they likely influenced where my musical tastes developed from and to a great deal.

Not really. My parents used to listen to metal/rock when they were young and all the classic older pop bands (e.g. Deacon Blue). As adults theyve not really been into much music my mum listens to chart stuff but my dad isnt fussed at all. I occasionally burn them CDs for the car.

I used to naturally listen to a lot of pop/chart music when I was young and always enjoyed singing talent shows (i.e. Pop Idol, Fame Academy, The X Factor). I used to buy the Now CDs and own Now 60-70 which I used to play on my CD player :dazzler: Once I got a laptop (aged 14?) I began with chart material but actually it was TiBB that initially broadened my horizons and next friends I made in sixth form and university so I now listen moreso to bands and adventure more into indie and electronic.

I still enjoy chart music all the same. I hate when people claim to 'detest' it. Fair enough if majority is too 'pop-y' or 'dance-y' or nowadays too 'house' but its fun, relatable and a good common social media for everybody to enjoy together. When people make playlists at parties and people complain "**** music" and try not to have a good time because of it :fist:

Most definitely, my dad had a collection of records, tapes and cds. So some of my faves comes from that.

My mom not so much, apart from her love of Burt Bacharach type music, I kinda love that too.
