The University thread

Thought it'd be good to have a thread discussing our university lives

What and where will you be studying later this month? :pipe2:

reece(: 03-09-2014 05:03 PM

Anyone here going to be 2015 students? :)

Braden 03-09-2014 05:05 PM

I will be, Reece! :)

I'm not actually sure yet, something Media related probably.

I applied for Media Communications this year but rejected all offers because I felt like I didn't have enough time to really think about my options.

What about you?

I'm applying for Environmental Geography, super nervous though after failing my first year and having to change my college course. :worry:

Samuel. 03-09-2014 06:49 PM

Wish you both luck!

Any 2012/13/14'ers?

You'll be absolutely fine, just give as much dedication and time to your education as you can.

King Gizzard 03-09-2014 06:54 PM

nah you're alright

Samuel. 03-09-2014 06:55 PM

Come to Doncaster Nathan

It's wonderful here I promise

King Gizzard 03-09-2014 06:57 PM

my a-levels were horrible and have probably run out by now

King Gizzard 03-09-2014 06:58 PM

and I don't have a maths GCSE

Marsh. 03-09-2014 07:01 PM

Run out?

How long do they last? D:

I didn't go through that hell for them to run out! :fist:

Samuel. 03-09-2014 07:02 PM

Sounds like the perfect Uni for you :amazed:

Seriously, one of my friends got in without any A levels. Admittedly quite a good portfolio of music tho.

King Gizzard 03-09-2014 07:02 PM

GCSE's 'run out' after 5 years I think, and I think A-Levels do too

I'm finishing my A2 exams this year but going to take a year out and apply to Uni next year instead. After finding out that the government loans I'll receive don't even cover a years accommodation, let alone food/books etc, I thought it might be a good idea to save up some money beforehand.

Firewire 03-09-2014 07:53 PM

Starting second year on the 22nd. Looking forward go going back!

Samuel. 03-09-2014 07:59 PM

Been counting down the days the entire summer...

Out of the three years we're at uni, literally a year of it we have off. Madness.

Going to miss it big time after this year.

It's going to be the same for me, I had 5 months off this summer and will have next summer! Next year I must do something worthwhile rather than just work 2 days a week and do nothing else.

Brother Leon 03-09-2014 08:11 PM

It's **** after the first half of the second year.

Thank you and goodnight

First half of the second was tough, second half a breeze. Third years said it gets much better with all the control we have in the final year. Already pre-planned the lot, can't wait :pipe:

Think it ultimately depends on the course.

Have a feeling first half of second year will be easy considering I'm only in two days a week :joker:
