Anybody ever got their cat catnip?

My cat is getting on a bit in life now and I've been trying to look at ways to make her last few years as pleasant as possible blah blah blah well anyway I was thinking about catnip, apparently some cats go batsh*t over it and I kinda want her to have the opportunity to try it for herself but I don't know anything about it.

I was wondering if any cat owners have let their cats try it and if it had any negative effects, I don't wanna poison her or turn her into a cat junkie or anything but anyway any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm probably talking out my arse here Kaz but I'm sure I read somewhere that it's like half cats love it and the other half don't go for it at all.

That's all I know about it really maybe your cat was part of the 50% that wasn't fussed with it.

I'm sure cats are supposed to love it,it sends some daft apparently, trust me to have a boring moggy:hehe:

I don't think my cat would love it either. She's so fussy! :joker:

At least your cat won't be appearing on Jeremy Kyle. If this stuff is mental and I end up with a drug dependant pussy I might end up getting a massive lecture from the big man himself.

That's kind of what I hope mine would act like. Is it ok for them to have as like a treat?

when our cat was about 14/15, we bought him treats... we thought he was going crazy, chasing things that weren't moving! then we realised we gave him some kitten treats. maybe try that? he seemed really happy

when it was his last few days, we let him eat treats for breakfast lunch and dinner. he wasnt really eating normal food. i like to think that it made him happy

They probably do, I ordered mine from Zooplus online but I was already getting a furminator for Eddie, to try to sort his hair out

Kyle 12-09-2014 01:13 PM

How long does it affect them for Niamh?

Only while they're around it really

I got my Reggie one of these. He loves it but only in short bursts. He chews the corners of it, carries it around in his mouth for a while, lays on it, rubs his face on it... then he might not touch it for a week.

Oh man that looks good.

I've bought catnip for my cat recently, he loves it, I sprinkled a bit into the fur of an old bunny teddy and he has great fun playing with it! :D

My female cat couldn't be bothered with catnip though.

Got it from the garden centre. It was about a fiver, I think. I'm not sure if it's good to smoke...
