Why do people use offline mode?

This is something that I never quite understood. If you're on the forum, isn't it nice for others to see you're online as well so that they can shoot you a message or something? Not to mention, if you haven't posted in a while if you don't use offline mode, others can see and can reach out to see how you're doing and stuff. I just never understood the appeal of the offline mode. What do others think?

To hide that they have no life, if they appeared as green all the time it would look sad

Oh that's an interesting angle, I never thought of it like that! Surely one's post-count would give that away though

Trying to be edgy

I use it sometimes when I'm running games just to make the tasks more difficult and unpredictable, but otherwise cba with it.

I think this is the reason Sometimes you just want to browse quietly and if you're a popular member there might be a lot of people wanting to get hold of you when you're on.

That makes sense to me! Or if you're playing in a game and you want to hide your activity or something.

I hope people know I was joking, I've had enough accusations of being nasty recently

Ninastar 12-09-2014 09:58 PM

Because sometimes people follow and attack wherever you post...

armand.kay 12-09-2014 10:35 PM

Online mode is too overrated and mainstream.

Livia 12-09-2014 11:00 PM

I like it for the air of mystery...

Benjamin 12-09-2014 11:03 PM

I only use it when hosting games so you can't track what I am doing for the game.

Mystic Mock 12-09-2014 11:06 PM

It can be nice to see what people say about you when they think you're not around.

It's always the shady people that use the appear offline thing.

People like Kazanne and Josy. Not to be trusted.

Settings and options on your user CP. the top option should be invisible mode. Click the box if you want to be shady.

Probably this, that's also what I was thinking.
