they said on Talksport radio this morning that David Beckham is gonna be given a Knighthood in the New Years day honours list ..

Is he too young ( 31) to get a knighthood?

I reckon he should get one .. he does a lot of work for "Charidee"!!!

He does a lot of work for charity because it's good publicity. :tongue: He has too much money, and by god, doing charity work will just increase his ever-expanding empire. :thumbs:

David Beckham does deserve one, hes done lots of charity work, and hes represented England in the World Cup! Good enough reason me thinks.

Why don't they give knighthoods for people who care for disabled children? Or people who day-in-day-out care for the elderly or something?

At first I was indifferent to it in a way I suppose. He may be young but I do feel he deserves it in terms of his charity work, football playing etc. At the same time I feel there are plenty of people who do the same thing, but don't get recognised, but Becks does have international appeal which is quite a hard thing to achieve IMO (whether you're 'trendy' or not.)

So in summary, yes, he deserves it.

If he gets knighted, it will put the final stamp on the belief that the honours system means nothing.:nono:

How about knighting some of our war heroes?

Bobby Moore didnt get knighted for years- and he won the World Cup.:puzzled:
