always wondered this about exams

When you do exams you have a certain amount of time to finish it.

This might sound crazy but why should they be a time limit? especially English exams, because when you got like 30 minutes left and you no where near finished, you will have to rush it and make some mistakes which could lose marks, my friend missed out on a B because of being rushed

I suppose to make it equal for everyone, but it's not really equal because the way that exams are, are just bad in themselves. It's a stressful situation and there's no way you can actually show how much you know about a subject in that type of situation.

In school, I always worked my way up through each year to smarter classes but did worst in exams, repeated that for about 5 years.. Just because I was quite bad at tests. It's not that way any more thankfully.

i always finished mine early and ended up sitting there for like 40 minutes with nothing to do

Exams are totally flawed, which is why I opted for a non-exams Level 3.

When I done my exams, I had to write about Of Mice Of Men.
and I had so many ideas but because I had to make sure everything was neat and making sure everything is spelled correctly because crosses looks messy. Near the end i had to cut the last question short, ended up with a C though but it makes me think could it been an B if i did put more.

same  I guess they have a time limit because there'd always be that one person who spends the entire day on it.

..could you imagine though, if there was no time limit..then maybe some people could take 5/6 hours and would have to have a break/it would be unreasonable not to..?..then they would just go and research the answers etc.....

I finished all of my English exams with about 30-40 minutes to go and got an A in Language and an A* in Lit.

So I can only speak from experience of not needing more time. Then again I am terrible at Maths and wish I had gotten more time to tackle that but I doubt I would have gotten any higher than I did though.

I do kind of agree with English, when I did my English Gcses it was 100% coursework so we didn't have to worry about time limits

Good point, but i think everyone will be done in about 2 and a half hour, exams suck though, i wish I had more time because i had so many points to discuss but had to cut it short because i was running out of time when i did my final exams 4 years ago

I tend to find exams too stressful and if I am not inspired on the day then it is a disaster. With a target GCSE grade of an A by the end of Year 9, it really makes it all worse. It's like they're expecting me to finish with an A* which is just not feasible.

I think mine took ages because has i enjoyed of mice and men i could remember alot of things and i had alot to talk about and i write slow to make sure it's neat so i don't lose marks if they think it's something else.

I'm was fine in exams but being rushed made me stressed

I prefer exams over like a project or 5+ page paper any day. Less work, less time-consuming, and not too hard to at least get by even if you have no idea what you're doing.

Although English tests were always annoying. Luckily in college it's all about writing papers and essays for English/Writing (which I hate anyway but is pretty easy to get a good grade on when it comes to English.. not so much other subjects if you don't understand the material). :idc:

cos they wouldn't be able to afford the supervisors

Quality work has to be produced in a time frame. If you can't work to a deadline, your work might be the most beautiful and perfect but it's ultimately useless unless it's finished within the time. It's like that in exams and it's like that at work. I'd say it's good practice.
