Twin Peaks is coming back

Twin Peaks is returning to television, it has been confirmed.

US cable channel Showtime has ordered nine new episodes, to air in 2016.

The new Twin Peaks will be a continuation of the original series, not a remake. Creators David Lynch and Mark Frost will co-write the entire season, with Lynch directing.

Lynch and Frost stirred up fan excitement on Friday (Oct 3) with a pair of tweets referencing the show.

Originally aired on ABC for two seasons from 1990-91, Twin Peaks starred Kyle MacLachlan as Dale Cooper - an FBI special agent investigating the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee).

The series won acclaim and developed a cult following for its performances, offbeat humour and surreal stylings.

A feature film spinoff Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me was released in 1992, serving as both a prequel and an epilogue to the TV show.
Hmm.

I was completely hooked on Twin Peaks when it was first aired...not sure about reprising it now though

..I wonder if this is why they have started to show the old ones again...I have tried to watch a few but they haven't really stood the test of time for me and I found them a bit boring....hmmm, I'm not really sure about this at all..

surely too long a time gap to continue it?

Xtopher 06-10-2014 05:10 PM

The show ended in 91 and I was born that year. 2016 I'll be 25, soo...

Great news. I've wanted to watch it for ages but never bothered because I don't think it got a proper conclusion, right? Will start it closer to the premiere.

I've watched the first four episodes. I'm liking it so far.

Very weird and very David Lynch. The first three episodes have the weirdness turned up to the level it was at in the last episode of the original.
