Someone please aware me on what is so fascinating about Great British Bake Off
 

I have just seen it is the most watched non-sporting event watched on TV this year (good old World Cup), but why? It's just a cooking show isn't it? Why would 12.3 million people want to watch someone cook? In depth replies that explain their points thoroughly only please.

I seriously don't know man. All my friends at uni love it but personally I find it to be really boring :p

Its torture watching it

It's a nice quirky show that doesn't take itself seriously and just has a friendly atmosphere, you can tell the contestants like each other and want each other to succeed and I am in awe at some of the talent on offer, Louis show stopper last night was incredible.

Oh and Mary Berry is a goddess that is a reason to watch in itself.
