Tourist locked inside Waterstones bookshop uses Twitter to be freed Waterstones store at Trafalgar Square David Willis, from Texas, was locked inside the Trafalgar Square branch A tourist found himself locked inside a Waterstones bookshop for two hours after it closed while he was still browsing. David Willis, from Texas in the United States, got trapped in the branch in Trafalgar Square, central London, on Thursday night. Police were called after he let people know of his situation on Twitter and someone came to let him out. When he was finally released, he tweeted: "I'm free." He said he had been upstairs in the shop for 15 minutes and when he came down all the lights were out and the doors locked. 'Please let me out' Mr Willis posted a picture of himself on Instagram behind shutters with the message: "This is me locked inside a Waterstones bookstore in London." In a later post, which by Friday morning had been retweeted by more than 8,000 people, he tweeted: "Hi Waterstones, I've been locked inside of your Trafalgar Square bookstore for two hours now. Please let me out." David Willis's tweet He received hundreds of replies, with many people asking him if he was taking the opportunity to read some books, others saying they would love to be locked in a bookshop and more than one suggesting he should build a fort out of books. Eventually Waterstones posted a message on its Twitter feed saying: "We're pleased to announce that Mr Willis is a free man once more. Thanks for your concern and tweets." Doors at Waterstones David Willis had entered the Trafalgar Square Waterstones store just a few minutes before it closed A Metropolitan Police spokesman said police were called at about 21:35 BST "by a man claiming to be locked inside a shop". He added: "Officers attended and following the arrival of a keyholder the man left the building shortly after 11pm." I would love this!!!! Where would you like to be locked in for the night!:spin: |
Waterstones would be a pretty cool place to be locked in, although the isolated atmosphere would be creepy in almost any store.
If there was good food and I had my ipad to keep my company I'd be satisfied anywhere tbh  |
Ohhhh a cinema maybe but I'd have to be able to play movies and take popcorn etc

until they let him out The manager needs to Sort her staff Out |
Could you imagine being locked in the London Dungeons:worry:
|
I wouldn't even tell anyone tbh

Yeah, and scare the sh*t out of the cleaning lady the following morning.

I was lucky enough to go to the Ceremony of the Keys in the Tower of London a while ago, all the tourists are gone and it was dark. Once it was over I got to have a walk around, not inside the buildings obviously. It was surreal and very creepy walking around the Tower, with all that history and no one else around. I wouldn't mind being locked in there for the night with access all areas.

I would love to be locked in tbh. If it wasn't there then I'd like Thorntons.
