she went outside of a male game and protested
its against the law to protest.

Ghoncheh Ghavami, who was arrested outside the Freedom Stadium, was given no reason for her conviction.
The law graduate, from Shepherd's Bush in west London, had been accused of "propaganda against the state".]

If women don't protest in these countries then nothing will ever change, will it?

True but she can hardly be surprised if she gets arrested if she did know it was illegal.

So women over there should just be good little law abiding citizens and do as they're told.......by the men?

What kind of a comment is that? She was imprisoned for protesting, she got arrested and I think it's great that she's achieved this publicity for the womens rights cause over there. Hopefully this negative publicity and pressure by media might help to free this very brave woman.

This is Iran
she is based in London
and knew full well that
any protest in Iran is Illegal.





If she does the full year
then she will never return to Iran
then all will be happy

She's British-Iranian, maybe this will give other Iranian women over there the courage to keep protesting and fighting for their rights and equality in their society

With some attitudes here she has no chance with the blokes over there it seems :/

I think women in Iran should shut up and do what they are told. Like their counterparts in Saudi Arabia they should not dare to drive a vehicle and should never ever venture outside on their own unless they are safely cocooned in their little black portable tents.

It is ridiculous how millions upon millions of women are treated in many countries made to obey the "men" or face violent reprisals.

Told what to wear, what to say, when they can go out, who they can go out with...etc..

So yes more protests of this kind until the female of the species has equal rights with the male...everywhere on this planet

Well if she wanted to get arrested,Well done to her.What i'm saying is if she knew it was illegal to protest and did it anyway,She surely can't be shocked or surprised when she got banged up.Countries don't tend to like foreigners going over trying to change their laws.She is only half Iranian afterall.

I am astounded at some of the attitudes of males in this thread. Astounded, surprised and really, really disappointed.

This woman knew it was illegal, yes. So she has in effect given up her freedom to get her story onto every news website and into every (decent) newspaper in the world. Only international pressure can help women living in countries like Iran, and only by highlighting the stone-age attitudes of the men who run those countries can international pressure bring about change.
