Celebrity Big Brother has been extended to five weeks.

The show - which usually runs for 21 days - will now go on for 35 days, meaning the stars will be locked up under constant surveillance for more than a month.

Show bosses are said to want to make it a longer show due to the high ratings it brings in, as Channel 5 are said to describe it as 'jewel in their crown'.

A source who did not wish to be named told the Daily Star: "Stars will have to get used to the fact that they could be living in that house for 35 days instead of 21.

Celebrity Big Brother 2015 run extended to five weeks - is it too long?

"Previous housemates have said they were driven bonkers doing three weeks so heaven knows what they will be like being locked up for five."

Hollywood actor Gary Busey won the last series of the Channel 5 reality show in September, but now a whole new host of celebrities are planning to enter the house.

Axed X Factor contestant Chloe Jasmine has already claimed to have turned down the show - twice.

The next series is expected to begin at the beginning of January 2015.

They keep us in the dark as long as they can - even during a series, we literally have no idea what's going on in the house until they post a YT video, we'll get the eye and trailer in about a month and a half.

Agree channel 4 used to inform us more through I don't expect that much change for the January series but with new ownership at c5 now who knows:)

Maybe.

Although they may be wondering what else we expect, the fact we were told there was a January and summer series must be confirmation the contract has been extended to them. It could be common knowledge, it's just with the media's lack of interest in BB now Desmond doesn't control it (unless they're reporting on it's potential axing), we don't get any reports about it. However, that theory is a little far fetched and they have been reporting on it's extension to 5 weeks.

I do think the show needs a rest for 2-3 years through cbb is in a much healthier position

I disagree. If they pick a decent set of HMs and stop producing so many twists, it could be brilliant.

Its seems to be a c5 thing to keep the drama up its not needed less outside contact as well

If they follow last year's schedule, you'll get the eye in the last week of November.

Yes. They need to take the most popular series' (BB5-BB7) and just take a look at why people loved them - all housemates with different personalities, not too many twists, live feed.. it's not hard.

BB7 and not too many twists? Even the eye was twisted.

I hope it's coming back. Otherwise I'd be lost. :D
