If Alex from Target was a girl...

Remember how #alexfromtarget was trending on twitter last week....

I found the whole Alex thing hilarious, and would probably have found it equally funny had it been a girl.

But, do you think if Alex were a girl, there would be a lot of fuss about objectifying women and sexual harassment? After reading the 'cat calls' thread, I think there would.

Liam- 08-11-2014 01:28 PM

Of course there would be, but i find it funny than on the internet the same people who tweet about wanting women to be treated like human beings and not objects, would in the next tweet, find it completely fine to objectify a man because of his looks.

This whole one sided, gender equality agenda, is supposed to be about both genders being treated like equals, but it seems like these radical feminists and do-gooders out there want Women to have and receive more respect than men, when in reality, it should be treat everyone the same and shut up.

Shaun 08-11-2014 01:29 PM

he ain't even all that tho

lily. 08-11-2014 01:32 PM

lol... I just hate all this... 'omg, stop objectifying me' nonsense. If some guy passed me in the street and said 'hi beautiful'.. I would laugh.

Liam- 08-11-2014 01:35 PM

Most women would find it flattering that someone went out of their way to take a bit of time of their day to tell them they looked beautiful, i know i would if i was a woman

It just seems to be one rule for feminists and another rule for everyone else 'You can't look at me and tell me I'm beautiful, how dare you' 'but i can ogle at pictures of guys and comment on how good his body is or how big his package is because we're women' jog on.

Bingo!

I just don't understand how feminists can take a nice 'Morning beautiful' and turn it into sexual harassment?
I understand that there are creeps in the street who take it too far, but most of the time it's just a friendly greeting from a stranger to another stranger, it's just pathetic.

Apparently it's a massive issue, but the only people making an issue out of it, are the radical feminists who take things way too sensitively.

The other week i was in a restaurant with my family and 3 or 4 women walked towards a table near us and the male waiter/concierge whatever he was, pulled a chair out for one of the women and she snapped at him and said 'What? Do you not think i can do that for myself because I'm a women?' things like that infuriate me, it's just ridiculous, that is what the issue is, not some wannabe prince charming telling a women in the street that they look good.

Agree. If a woman holds open a door for me,I smile and say thank you. It's polite.Only women who have a giant chip on their shoulder would take offence.

Bang On Right E. Paul

Not bang on. Feminism means equal gender rights by bringing girls in line with boys. Learn the definition.

And by the way, nobody was saying "ohh i would **** him" or "nice dick", so it really isn't harassment. The same applies when a guy compliments a girl - "you're beautiful" is perfectly fine, whereas "nice tits" would be harasssment.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 08-11-2014 03:27 PM

he's not even hot :umm2:

he looks like the sprouse twins

I think you'll find i saw a lot of comments on my twitter feed from teenage girls and cougars who were building up a froth for the guy, all making derogatory comments about him.

Firewire 08-11-2014 03:33 PM

He has horse teeth

Shaun 08-11-2014 03:33 PM

I wouldn't be so sure that no one on Twitter at all has said "I want to **** him", Josh

Jamesy 08-11-2014 03:41 PM

If this was #chloefromtarget though I can guarantee there would be mass outrage over the sexualisation of a woman in a shop and how it objectives her. If a woman got plastered all over social media and was a trend for being 'hot' you would have masses of women up in arms.

Braden 08-11-2014 03:45 PM

I just think it's ridiculous that he's became famous due to some creep taking a picture without him realising.

It kind of makes me hate social media.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 08-11-2014 03:47 PM

remember zeddie little :flutter:

Liam- 08-11-2014 03:47 PM

Wasn't it also a girl who took the creepy picture in the first place? :hehe:

Yeah, Ridiculously Photogenic Guy...

To be fair though, that wasn't just about him being good looking... it was also about him looking like that whilst running a freaking marathon... when most other participants were sweaty messes in the pics lol

Ninastar 08-11-2014 05:49 PM

Wow, glad to see I'm not the only girl on the internet that thinks this too, Linda.

Now I may not be the only lady who thinks this... But i'm probably the only lesbian. internet lesbians are always so desperate to shout 'SEXISM!!!!' at anything they see said by a man.

You can exclude these comments then, and yes they would be offensive and misandristic because he's probably quite uncomfortable with these things being said about him.

Well no, you can't just exclude those comments to suit your own opinion or agenda.. It's not just women who face derogatory comments, it's men too and the whole 'Alex from target' thing proves it.
