I don\'t mean to be picky, but.........
Aaargh!
Can I just point out a few spelling/grammar issues that drive me potty every time I see them. 1. It's not 'Should Craig/Brian/Kate/Cameron/Nadia/Anthony/Pete OF won?' It's should they HAVE won!!!!!!! 2. YOUR - means belonging to you. It DOESN'T mean - i.e. - 'I think you are great.' If you want to write that, it is 'I think YOU'RE great.' Thankyou. I feel MUCH better now.:flowers: |

The other one is using apostrophes to form plurals. |
I hate it when people mix up "they're", "their" and "there".
But, I also hate the ole' 'your' and 'you're' mistake. |
Problem is 10% of the population is dyslexic. They have enough trouble spelling, let alone remembering the rules of grammar.
Do you think we should really be putting them off from posting with a thread like this that makes them feel inferior. This is chat board and people tend to post as they speak. It might not be grammatically right but we wouldn't have such a rich language if everyone in the past followed the rules of grammar. |
i cant spell out very good in english
it's so hard for me because everything is welsh with me i write in welsh i talk in welsh im just not very good in english |
When I read this post the dread of fear came to me. Like Red, I too am dyslexic and as much as I try I cant always be grammatically correct!
Sorry if my grammar bugs people but I cant help it :cloud: |

With the 'your/you're' one I actually have to think about which one is right, and check it, every time I type it.

Thanks for this thread, these things annoy me too:mad::nono:

I was chosen to take part in helping with grammar at my primary school. I do find it difficult to spell also to have the right grammar so I always type it, read it, put it on word, correct spellings, and post and finally edit (when i have made a mistake i didn't notice)...... so I do apologise if I don’t make sense at times but I’m trying.

Ok, I really don't think this post was against people with learning difficulties or forms of dyslexia.
It was mainly aimed at people too lazy to learn basic grammar rules, and people who spell things wrong when they know the real spelling. (This fits into people saying "u" instead of "you" etc). |
How can one tell the difference?????
|
I get annoyed at people picking on people who have problems Andy you dont need to say sorry.
|
 I was only saying that when I see a punctuation or grammar error like the one above I notice it, that's all. Wasn't attacking anyone, or anything like that. Sorry.
If I know the person writing has dyslexia I wouldn't point out - or be bothered by - their spelling or grammar mistakes, just like if a writer's first language isn't English it isn't proper to point out their spelling or grammar errors. |

People not using full stops or comma's bugs me just because you can't understand the posts half of the time whearas getting they're there's mixed up (yes, i did it on purpose) shouldn't be an issue as you can easily understand the posts and as it's been pointed out several times, 'there are younger members on the forum' so therefore mightn't know and even older members who are dyslexic or who simply get mixed up sometimes like i do. It's an easy mistake to make as your not sitting an English GCSE so your not exactly paying much of an interest as your just chatting on a 'friendly' forum. Your all b@$tards.  |
I am guilty of grammer mistakes sometimes. But it kinda annoys me too.
|
We are not talking about people who have learning difficulties, we mean people who are too lazy to type properly and spell properly, and use text talk:nono: and use no grammer at all and no proper syntax...
|
with out being nasty
if it annoys you - dont read it |

I think most people will agree about the text talk etc but the 'spelling' thing, you need to understand that quite simply; people cannot spell. |
