How scared of terrorism are you?

The UK government keep ramping up the rhetoric that we are under imminent threat but how much of this is bollocks and how scared do you feel?

Not remotely. No one would bother trifling with us Westcountrymen. We're above all that. Oo-ar.

Josy 27-11-2014 07:12 PM

Not at all, if it's going to happen then it will, no point worrying about.

GiRTh 27-11-2014 07:13 PM

Not at all.

Petrified. Every time I see an arab or someone dressed all in black I wet myself.

Jamesy 27-11-2014 07:54 PM

If it happens it happens. Not any point if worrying about it everyday, we aren't in control.

I live in a crap city anyway so if someone blew a bomb here it would probably brighten the place up a bit.

Firewire 27-11-2014 07:56 PM

Don't think about it normally

I was the same at my school when Sister Mary Bernadette used to approach She sure knew how to use that black leather belt. :joker:

Not at all, I doubt Cork is top of terrorists lists

kirklancaster 28-11-2014 09:21 AM

I can honestly say, that after reading all the brave responses on this thread, that I'm now not scared at all -- because I'd just get behind you lot.:hehe:

It is in my mind especially when I go into the bigger cities.
take it serious enough to think I need to be more alert as to those around me and so I guess the warnings have made an impact on me.

With these awful 'things' in existence who knows what their lack of decent thinking could lead them to do.
I walk around a really busy supermarket and think what if one of these things attacked someone in there.
It is why I would like to be made able to see fully the faces of all the people I am walking the public areas and supermarket/shops with too.

Nedusa 28-11-2014 09:28 AM

Not particularly worried, I mean it's not on my mind every time I wander out in Public.

I would hoever raise an eyebrow if a couple of obviously dressed Muslim men came into my Tube carriage carrying large backpacks.

Suspect more than a few people would exchange wary glances.

I agree with this, pretty much. I don't worry about it at all because there's no point of living in fear, especially of something that's not even likely to happen.

It's like a healthy person with a healthy lifestyle living in fear of terminal illness. There's always a chance that it could happen to anyone, but what's the point of worrying about it? Especially when chances are that it won't happen (until old age obviously).

In fact that's not even a brilliant comparison because you're MUCH more likely to be diagnosed with a terminal illness than killed in a terrorist attack. Or hit by a car, or crash your own car, or be attacked by a savage dog, or die in an accident at home such as falling down the stairs or off a ladder.

I guess what I'm saying is, if we all lived in fear of every little thing that has a miniscule chance of killing us, we'd just spend our lives hiding under the bed cropping our pants! Terrorist attacks are just one more risk in a hazardous world... And one of the smallest risks tbh.

Yes Joey, I have the same 'short-term' concerns when I'm out and about, but my real worry is what I believe will happen to this beautiful country if we 'don't get a grip'.

I don't give a monkeys if someone thinks I'm an alarmist, racist, or just plain nuts, because I know enough about history to know that Will Durant's famous quote "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself within" is so true, and we are destroying ourselves from within by our crazy, immigration policies.

We have opened the floodgates and are welcoming in our enemies. But more than this, we are overpopulating a tiny island, overloading our already failing, underfunded and bankrupt, Benefits System, Police and Security Services, our National Health Service, et al, and our natural way of life - our heritage - is being visibly eroded before our eyes.

The 'bleeding heart' liberals can laugh, but because of the past, I have seen the future if we do not take radical action to change it now in the present.

The 'Writing' is well and truly 'On The Wall'.

More tragic if the bomb did go off.

the truth 28-11-2014 04:07 PM

the only people who scare me are those corrupt people within the system at the police, the council and within the nhs
those people hurt millions on a daily , hourly basis.
hw many times have you been robbed ? compared to how many times have you been hurt or fined or mistreated or simply messed around by civil servants, lousy nhs staff or useless cops and council officals?

Ninastar 28-11-2014 11:56 PM

I'm a big worrier. I live near an area that could be targeted... I also get worried when going on the tube in London and I get nervous in airports

I have total trust in our military/government/MI5 whatever you wanna call it, but the spontaneous things like the Lee Rigby murder are pretty unpredictable.
