What's your general schedule for Christmas day?
Christmas is pretty standard in my house - same thing every year but it's great.
Usually up at 7 to open presents with all of the siblings and mum will start sorting the turkey (not my forte). By 9 we are usually done and everyone will go off to set up their toys, or us adults will go back to bed for a couple hours! Family etc usually come round at about 12 and we will have lunch at around 2 and then basically sit around chatting, eating like horses and drinking until someone gets too drunk (never who you expect it to be!) and either starts an argument or passes out on the sofa. It's a pretty well practised schedule in my house but we all have a great time :hehe:. |
Wake up around 9ish, put the fire on, open presents and then watch films all day... then have christmas dinner
This year though, we're going out to feed the homeless at lunch which is very exciting! I've never done it before so I'm really looking forward to it. |
Go home on the 24th back to Hastings and spend it with my nieces and nephews, probably visit the horses. I actually cannot wait to go home, looking forward to seeing the troops and getting drunk with Lisa.

Rise ...eat....brekkie ....church.... off to brothers for family meal and return home around 7.30pm ,PJ's on and sit back and watch TV ...with a few refreshments of course. Early rise 5am on boxing day and picked up around 5.45 to hit ...THE SALES.
We make a day of it and around 2pm we are drinking cocktails (mocktails for the driver). |
at like 8-10 am we wake up and open presents (I go first as i'm the superior and the youngest :flutter:
Just chill and use the stuff we got Grandparents come over talk to them have xmas dinner talk to them again they leave @ like 5pm everyone relaxes and uses their stuff |
oh and late at night we usually play a board game that's been bought, We always get whatever new monopoly it it is or something else.
Also on the night before xmas eve, My sister, her gf, My mum, and I play Cards against humanity for ages  |
Wake up from like 5.30-7 (I have a young sister)
Open presents until like 9 to Christmas music Eat breakfast Set up presents until like 11 Go and lay wreaths at family graves</3 Go back home at like 12:30, Lounge about with gifts until like 3, Christmas Dinner is served, After Christmas Dinner/washing up we visit my nans for her Xmas party at like 5 and stay the night (although its usually stopped half way through by my auntie wanting to watch EastEnders) Come back home Boxing Day morning. |
I have really quiet Christmas' these days, I'm the youngest child so all of my siblings have moved out and got their own families, my brother now lives in Southampton so we don't see him over the holidays anymore, so our schedule for the past couple of years has been the same
9am - Get up and open stuff 11am - We have a Christmas breakfast 1pm - Go over to one of my sister's house spend some time with them and her kids 3pm - Head over to my other sister's house to spend time with her and her kids 4pm - We have the dinner at her place Then from about 5/6ish we just chill out, play some games, drink.. a lot, then we leave at about 9 or 10, it depends. Then we go home and watch all the soaps before going to bed. It sounds dull, but it works for us :flutter: |
About 8-9am we wait for everyone to surface and open presents.
Have a break halfway through presents for a cup of tea and for us smokers, a fag then carry on. Normally finish opening presents about 12pm. Everyone goes home to get dressed then come back about 2pm for dinner. Then everyone just sleeps until teatime then we have trifle and Yule log and stuff our faces with crap. I make everyone watch Doctor Who then we just tend to drink and get drunk. |

It usually varies as there are often unexpected further guests who come so plans are not made and the day just unfolds as things happen.
Three set things however are everyone is up by 7am at the latest. Also that several of us go to Church Christmas morning with Mum. Christmas Lunch/Dinner whatever anyone may call it is always at 1.30pm. In between that are the exchanging of presents and greeting family and friends who visit on Christmas day. After Christmas lunch/dinner,the day just happens with whatever goes on and whoever may suggest some format of the time left throughout the day. Personally I myself generally catch up as much as I can with family and friends who I see little of through the year. |
..we don't really have a schedule or tradition anymore as such/we're making new traditions and they're changeable, which they often have to be when your children have partners/families and actually I quite like it...this year we will be having dinner on Christmas Day evening and then opening gifts after that...hmmmm, I'm not sure what I'm going to cook yet but I don't think it will be turkey...
