Define celebrity
Every year the same old crap jumps up....she isn't a cleb, he isn't that well known, she shouldn't be considered and I have never heard of her or him. There are even sayings like.....how can anyone call her a celeb and does doing this or being that, guarantee her or him celeb status.
One can even see the odd.....WTF, she is not a celeb, shes a prozzie and he shouldn't be considered on the strength of ??????? etc etc. We now have a roaring discussion on whether or not someones double should be considered and whether or not a skanky slapper who is nothing better than a pariah should be given air time. It used to be people that we in the limelight, the tv or radio or on the big creen, could be considered as celebs, but nowadays with the media exposure we see on both the tv and internet, there are loads of so called celebs creeping in that some of us have never heard of so my question is.... What constitutes a celebrity. |
As long as they are entertaining I'm not really bothered
|
I think you must
1. have a discernible talent that entertains 2. Be on tv or radio for at least 1 year So of you are on Eastenders you do not qualify, or BB or x factor (unless you have had hits like say Olly) |
Celebrity status is far easier to obtain in 2014. If you are recognisable and people know you, then you're famous, simple as really.
And not LT attacking Eastenders when they have some of the best actors in the country on the show. |

A celebrity must be recognisable and have a career, it's as simple as that. So reality stars are not celebrities, media *****s are not celebrities and so on.
|
A known person is a celebrity, even josie cunningham. I just argue that she doesn't deserve to be one.
|
A celebrity for me is Someone who is famous but in the headlines and magazines, and has lots of story's about them, attends events, etc. Famous for me is someone who people know but who are never really in the headlines and stay quiet.
A famous person - usain Bolt Celebrity - Miley Cyrus As an example |
Being on TV might make you "famous" but doesn't make you a "celebrated personality" which is what a real celebrity is.
When it comes to CBB I'm not too fussy since it's hardly ever actual celebrities anyway. Mildly Famous Big Brother doesn't have the same ring to it. |

Eastenders Actress - depends which actress Olly Murs - celebrity Alan Sugar - famous What I was trying to say is there is a difference between famous and celebrity, if that makes any sense. |

To be fair, Melinda Messenger was a celeb when she went in the house 12 years ago. Nowadays, not so much.
