In my opinion, this is probably scaremongering to incite more racial hatred and further the anti-immigration rhetoric. That's not to say that we shouldn't be careful, there must be a small nugget of truth in there somewhere past the right-wing propaganda.

We do control our borders though, if you want proof simply search "border controls uk". I do feel though that if people are getting through with weapons then the security definitely needs to up it's game.

we dont control them anywhere near well enough and we need limits and we need to find and capture the million plus illegal immigrants.

I'm sure they've been plotting attacks for the last decade, I know I can be a bit lefty with things like this but we do owe a lot to our intelligence services that numerous attempts have been thwarted over the last few years and that a major attack has been avoided since 7/7

Britain has and always will be a target. We're just in a part of time where attacks are more likely. No need to worry about it, we as members of the public cannot do anything to prevent it. We've just got to trust those working against terrorism to prevent it.

This! I can't see any other reason for them publishing this and for that exact reason. It's not like the general public can do anything so why get us scared?

thats far too lacksidaisical. we need to do far far more than that. starting with reaffirming who we are and what we are about. strengthen our security, retracting from mindless european legislation , bring in a points sytem and keeping a limit on immigration and spending more time and money of preventing illegal immigration

I don't think it is 'just scare mongering to incite more racial hatred'.It came from the head of MI5,Why on earth would he want to incite racial hatred?This was reported on the news not just in the papers.Apparently a specific threat from Syrian based operatives.

Those of us on here who repeatedly comment, preach, or warn about Islamic Fundamentalists and their aims, the link between terrorism and immigration, and the real threat to the UK as a consequence, are ignored or even castigated, and that's perhaps understandable.

But I am totally baffled when the head of MI5 issues the same warning and some still choose to ignore it:shrug:.

No they have issued it so people are more alert and aware, Britain has been on a high terror alert for quiet a while now.

Silly comment in my opinion. MI5 are apolitical, they are there to protect our security. If tthey believe there is a high probability of attack, people should listen and not spout political rubbish

it is a silly thing to say. they've been plotting attacks for decades. they are always plotting attacks. most will not ever happen, and some will.

I think that is denying the real problem which is not an imaginary conspiracy theory, but the extremists and anyone who shares their views, which are highly racist and sexist - they are the ones that fuel racial hatred, just not the kind they want.

Every time they they attempt to threaten the rest of the world, try to force their views on everyone and try to create a culture of fear they fuel racism. They are fools who clearly lack the intelligence to see that. They create racism and Islamophobia - simples! !

Such half-wits will never pose a real risk to the rest of the world - that takes intelligence, not primitive and backwards bullying.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't in London. I think there's this assumption that a terrorist attack will always be aimed at London, so terrorists might strike at another big city instead - Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow...
