What A-Levels did you do?

As above (if you studied any, of course).

A2 - Business, ICT & Media

AS - Film studies

I dropped film studies because I had to go to another campus, which was in the town next to mine and it was me with just btec students and it was just awful. I hated it. I probably would have been able to easily keep up with the work with 4 a-levels but it was just awful.

I did highers. :hmph:

At sixth form I only completed English Literature and Politics  did AS levels of German and this nonsense subject called 'critical thinking' though

Then went back to college and did English Language, History, a year of Geography and this short business course.

I dropped out of critical thinking after three weeks

A2: Art and Photography

AS: ICT

Oh I forgot I did Key Skills and the Welsh Baccalaureate too (not strictly A Level but forced at the same time).

I sadly dropped IT after the first year as we had to travel to another school to study it and in said school the teacher ignored us (me and 2 others studied the course) and favored the other students. Funnily enough all of us that had to travel to this other school quit it after the first year because of poor treatment by teachers. We tried complaining a few times about it although no one listened. That's education for you!

I did start studying English Lit and Lang for AS although quit it after barely a week because the teacher was a moron. She spent lessons talking about her baby and not teaching us anything then giving us books to read and analyse with no guidance (I was probably out of my depth tbh). When I quit the teacher asked me what other subjects I was doing and she replied "so you want to quit the clever subject and learn nothing and be working in McDonalds in a year" :joker:

3 years on and I've completed a degree and had my artwork showcased at several exhibitions around South Wales, so long for working in McDonalds :joker:

Yeah, most sixth forms/colleges make you do either that or General Studies don't they? I remember it being the most monumental waste of time ever... not many people showed up towards the end

Shaun 18-01-2015 07:52 PM

Oh I had to do General Studies as well... both were once-a-week things that had about 20 UCAS points value at most and no one turned up for.

In fact for the final exam I just wrote down as many words beginning with the letter A that I could think of, I could not be arsed.

Currently doing Spanish, sociology and English Literature

Dropped economics at AS after getting a U lool

MTVN 18-01-2015 07:55 PM

English lit, History, Economics

Psychology at AS but didn't really get on with it so I dropped it. I did general studies as well because a couple of the Unis I applied to accepted it but then neither of the ones I picked as my first/second choice did so it ended up being pointless

Psychology's interesting but the amount of case studies to memorise put loads of people off at our sixth form. Plus in Y12 it's basically learning about Bowlby's theory of attachment and the monkey experiment.

Niall 18-01-2015 09:57 PM

History, English Language, and Psychology were the final three that I took all the way through to A2. I did an AS level in General Studies, and I did Geo for year 12 but I failed it tbh. Doesn't matter tho because it's boring as useless as **** anyways. :idc:

I also did an EPQ and got an AS Level for that too.

For the Irish equivalent of the A-Levels which is the Leaving Cert, I did English(which is just one subject), Irish and Maths which are all compulsory. Then also History, Business Studies, French, Home Economics and Biology.

I took A level History, English language and Literature, Danish, and psychology when I was in my late 50's.
I wish I'd taken them when I was younger though, so I could have made more use of the qualifications. Still, the personal satisfaction was good.
