Column

Do you think this gives her an unfair advantage against the other housemates? By writing a column from the house isn't she communicating with and potentially influencing the public?

Denver 30-01-2015 11:40 AM

No not at all when you compare it to previous series where they let housemates go out literally everyday its a very minor thing and this is her job and nobody else can do it

Niamh. 30-01-2015 11:40 AM

Absolutely but it seems all the old basic rules of Big Brother have well and truly been thrown out the window at this stage so it's not surprising at all

Jack The Cat 30-01-2015 11:42 AM

Yes it is wrong

Been done before.

I think it will put her at a disadvantage.

Its not really true that no one else could do it, she could have a guest fill in for her while she away. TV presenters often have stand in hosts when they are away.

But her contract is that she has to do it herself each week for how long the contract is.

all she has to do is talk to a tape and someone else will write it for her

Lostie! 30-01-2015 11:47 AM

The fact that a housemate can write a newspaper column from inside the house is ridiculous. Seriously, it's like the show is parodying itself.

Definitely a new low in the "outside contact" area.

Black Dagger 30-01-2015 11:47 AM

Yes. Especially when she can plead with the public on who to vote for.

This is what we don't know, or at least I don't know. Does she have a laptop with internet access ? we don't know the scope of it

Which member of TOWIE was allowed out to the airport? I never even heard about that.

And yes, I think the fact that she's allowed to put out a column in a a national newspaper and directly contact the public on a higher level than anyone else in the house is "a new low". Rylan didn't have that scope (though his situation was ridiculous and almost on-par with this).

I can use my head in the same way that housemates are not allowed outside contact. You don't know what they do and don't allow, neither do I, what I am saying is, I would like to know what the scope is of her contact with the outside world

The fact outside communication has been going on even back to the end of the CH4 days

But you were saying how her access to the outside world is limited, when we know nothing of the sort. In fact, for all we know they could all be sitting there with their devices checking the state of play .... we don't actually know.

I think we would know as they would be caught out

Stormy 30-01-2015 01:04 PM

I think that they wanted Hopkins in so much that they were willing to jeopardize the integrity of the show.

They all have riders in their contracts. Rylan being allowed to leave for rehearsals, or housemates leaving for doctor's appts or spray tans is one thing...but to allow a housemates to be able to write columns about the housemates is just wrong. It gives this one housemate the opportunity to influence the public voting.

I personally like Katie Hopkins as a housemate but completely disagree with BB allowing her to publish a column about her experiences. This is just plain wrong.
