Hopkins is very good at tit for tat childish abuse, but when someone is serious with her she struggles.

I don't agree with any of the above and am grateful for people like Katie without them, perhaps people would be prosecuted for free speech and you can see throughout history what direction a society heads when that happens.

seriously tho why is it when ever we talk about this you bring up free speech, like the strawman argument is getting thin. no one is suggesting we take away her freedom of speech at all like chill.

Fully agree that free speech is only free when one is allowed to say things that upset people, and this maxim should apply to KH too. However, I've watched free speech under bitter attack on this forum, with one poster claiming that they were one of those complaining to Ofcom last week. The powers that be have it easy introducing the ever growing censorship we have seen in the UK since BB1 days with so many simple minded fools who think that we should all be free to only say things that they agree with.

Free Speech; Just because it can be said doesn't mean it should be said!

If we all went around saying what we thought surely that would turn our the planet into some kind of pot of vile hating humans who haven't a kind word to say about anything?

We all have opinions but when it hurts a person or group of people when they haven't done anything wrong is it really appropriate to hurt and hate on people simply because we can?

It's not ok to hate on ginger people, fat people etc simply because each and every person on this planet is different and they should NOT all be tarred with the same brush - we are all unique in our own way

I respect your opinion but don't think you can say you represent the "We" I feel confident to say that some people do want her "Stopped" and do want to take away her free speech (and by extension others) they do not agree with what she has to say. As long as that is the case, then I feel perfectly comfortable in expressing my thoughts.

You make a good argument but free speech includes the right to offend, by all means be critical of the nature of the comment but when the speaker is attacked for saying it, well that is the issue for me.

Fair enough, I should have been more precise about the section I was concerned about.

Inciting racial hatred is an offense though so it has nothing to do with free speech, as to whether i think KH was doing this, well that's another discussion

I agree and you are right. I would suggest if Katie's comments were considered a crime legally then given her high profile then she would have been prosecuted by now.

I guess that is part of my issue, disagreeing with someone is fine and indeed healthy but when people choose to be offended and demand people stopped, well then I have an issue. If people want the law to be changed then they do have options and can participate of course.

And some easily led people really don't understand the art of staying silent when it's needed when you don't agree with someone,,to 'win' an argument you don't have to be fuming and behaving like a toddler having a tantrum,mouthing obcenities,the best way sometimes is to just stare at them,and turn your back on them,try it,it really annoys them,:joker::joker:

Ahh this is true.. I will admit when someone offends me / hates on me or someone I like then all bets are off and when some home truths are deserved. But it would be aimed at the person rather than where they were born, colour of skin, how they look, sexual preference etc.

I will always remember poppy day and a certain religion protesting the monument that to me is insanely wrong! (but then I suppose that is a topic for another day and another place) :D
