Housemates who changed public perception the most (good to bad)

I always find it interesting when a housemate goes in to big cheers, is a possible favourite, seems lovely etc, and by the time they leave it's all changed. What are some big examples of this you can think of?

A recent one is obviously Pauline. Big favourite on launch night, evicted to huge boos in the second week.

Others than come to mind:
Wolfy
Bea (I remember how lovely and likeable she seemed on launch night, it was quite freaky how she gradually became so malicious )
Rebekah (I'm sure she was popular on launch night, but I think she started to ruin it as early as the first highlights show)
Toya

Lots of launch night favourites... Pauline and Wolfy as you've mentioned, then Kathreya, Caroline, Tina Malone, Sophia, Carole... I think there's a theme here. And for the other way around, Helen. Just not for me.

Black Dagger 08-02-2015 12:10 PM

Rebekah was launch favourite with the bookies iirc lol. With her VT about charities. Before immediately ****ing it up by calling Pamela a slag

Headie 08-02-2015 12:10 PM

Toya was never popular with the general public tbh, if anything she gained popularity during her final week.

I'd say:
Shievonne BB13
Carole BB8
Laura BB8
Kathreya BB8
Sophia BB10
Makosi BB6
Rebeckah BB12
Wolfy BB14
Lisa BB7

LOL @ there not being any obvious cases of this happening to males

Lostie! 08-02-2015 12:18 PM

Thanks for the responses, some obvious ones I forgot. Especially Caroline, who now I think about it, was my launch night favourite too.

I always find it a shame about Shievonne, she was definitely one of the best housemates (for me) until she got all grumpy and confrontational. Even when she did, I really wanted her to pull it back. Regardless of how she started to annoy people though, her going against Conor was ridiculous.

As for Toya, I always thought she was popular at first (though that could have just been a forum thing I guess). Though even if she wasn't popular with the bookies, I remember her being cheered going in and certainly didn't have her down as a Week 3 eviction. She was like some others mentioned, seemed really bubbly and entertaining at first and then got grumpy and angry most of the time (but she definitely won me back around in her final week when she took on Team Twat).

Erm... err... Maxwell, I guess? The thing is, it's never the men that get any airtime in the first few weeks.

John James was a bookies favourite in the early weeks of BB11 iirc, Govan was also quite popular on launch night.

Lostie! 08-02-2015 12:26 PM

Oh yeah, Govan's another I should have remembered since I loved him on launch night.

This is just proof that VTs / early days in the house mean nothing. You can look like the most fun person in the world and end up being the angriest / bitchiest in there. :laugh2:

Another for me (a personal one, no idea if she was popular) is Rebecca (BB9). I thought she was gonna be great fun, and I even liked her during the first week or so, then she became a massive bitch.

There seems to be a trend of housemates looking like a lot of fun, and ending up being either annoying, miserable, angry or outight nasty. I guess that's down to a combination of playing up in the VT (kind of the opposite of those who play up to being nasty to get in) and being overexcited to go in.

How could you all forget bmi Becks? what a disgrace she turned out to be.

Lostie! 08-02-2015 12:31 PM

As for males, what about Luke? Again, I genuinely have no idea what the bookies were saying, but I'm sure I remember him being quite well liked at first? Then he ends up going against most of the house.

LukeB 08-02-2015 12:31 PM

Pauline was a favourite on launch night

LukeB 08-02-2015 12:38 PM

Caroline from bb13 was bookies favourite too!

Edit: oh yeah someone already said

VanessaFeltz. 09-02-2015 03:37 PM

Jale didnt become hated tho she just wasnt liked that much anymore. she got an amazing reception when she was evicted. Pauline was iconic she got cheers on day one 8 days later chants and boos

Cal. 24-02-2015 04:12 PM

Pauline BB15
Vanessa BB5

Daniel. 24-02-2015 04:47 PM

I can't believe people haven't mentioned Makosi more - from favourite to win to boos and chants

Raph 24-02-2015 05:04 PM

Off the top of my head:

Pauline (BB15)
Jale (BB15)
Wolfy (BB14)
Caroline (BB13)
Sophia (BB10)
Kathreya (BB9) even though I still love her

So all girls interestingly enough!

Jake. 24-02-2015 05:15 PM

Jale didn't really change perception, she just went from being a bit of an underdog to nobody really caring about her. What with her 'always nominated' tag, she was just biding her time.

susie q 24-02-2015 05:24 PM

Julie Goodyear from I think cbb12. She went a favourite to win but became grumpy.
