Could the Big Brother app be improved?

Personally I think it could, by looking at other app developers such as Tellybug (they make The X Factor, BGT and The Voice apps). With their apps, they include much more viewer interaction, free app voting and in-app games. Plus, they look and run much better than the current BB app. So I reckon if they got them to develop a new app for BB, then it would be a lot better than the current app is.

The current app is basically just a mobile website wrapper. Anyone who had any experience with app development could probably knock it up in a few hours.

Absolutely. While the app was okay for the summer last year, it needs a huge improvement. I think we need an up to date news section, a video section, better Housemate profiles, free in-app voting like The X Factor, a working live stream section for those who watch using the app, Twitter stuff, quizzes/games, picture sections..

Wanted to bump this too as the app hasn't been updated yet and BB launches soon...

Yeah it needs to be more of an app rather than a website shortcut. What they have now is OK but it's not optimized that well for mobile devices, usually crashing and videos not being supported for mobile devices. The app needs to be a thing in its own right, something that can attract a casual viewer from the get-go.

Adding new features that involve some interactivity during the show would be brilliant too. Free voting would be a bonus, although given the low viewers BB has compared to the likes of XF I'm not sure if that would affect paid voting numbers.

It's all very amateur and some of the features tend to not work.

Produce an app for live feed, quizzes etc and then save the videos for YouTube
