Stupid Questions

Stupid questions are very common on TiBB so i thought i'd give them a thread of their own.

Nah, there have been times i've wanted to know something daft but didn't want to start a whole thread for a 'stupid question' so i decided to do a thread for them all.

Right, don't just pollute it with retarded questions that you know the answer too... there is actually a purpose of this thread.

Anyhow, do they celebrate Christmas in Australia? I ask this for a couple of reasons; one being that it always seems to be sunny and light in Australia so it doesn't get you feeling 'christmas' and secondly, on Neighbours i've not seen any christmas decorations up and i've heard none of the characters talk about christmas presents etc. So, do they?

BigSister 23-12-2006 08:45 PM

yes they do Ant i know 2 Australlian members on another forum and they celebrate christmas

MarkWaldorf 23-12-2006 08:46 PM

What are squares?

Not the shape, Dan used it to describe people.

MarkWaldorf 23-12-2006 08:46 PM

Lmao Anthony it's summer over there. Not winter, so I doubt they would so all the snow and all that.

sol 23-12-2006 08:46 PM

Yeah they do cos I had an Australian teacher who taught me for 2 terms in Year 5 at Primary School who told us how they celebrate Xmas over there.
Apparently a lot of them go onto the beach and have a BBQ

Dan_ 23-12-2006 08:47 PM

They certainly do but it's just during their summer so it kinda comes off as not being much like christmas.I've seen it mentioned a few times on neighbours.

They are mainly a Christian country so yeah they celebrate it.

Legend 23-12-2006 08:47 PM

Thanks for that Becca, seeeeee there is definatly a purpose of this thread.

Mark, it's probably just a word Dan has made up to describe somebody, maybe he thinks that person has a square head? I honestly couldn't tell you.

Aussies celebrate Christmas just on the beach (if this is true I don’t know but my mum’s friend does whose Aussie) and on neighbours you never see it as we are 3 or so months behind on neighbours....

Omg - i'm so dumb. Don't they have the same seasons as us, so it's not Winter in Australia? I thought everyone had the same. Wow, i'm so un-informed, haha.

Right, so is it December in Australia now or is it Summer so like July, August? :conf:

Well if I called someone a square I think I'd be insinuating that they were boring.

Or just stupid. It's not much of an insult

BigSister 23-12-2006 08:50 PM

It is December over there, but not winter.

They're on the other side of the world, so the sun rises etc and the hemisphere is at a different angle for them. Hence the differences in weather.

No, it's December the same as here except their Decembers are summer and their June/July and August is cooler.

Legend 23-12-2006 08:51 PM

Oh yeah, i think i've actually heard 'square' before and it's just boring although i'm not positive.

Legend 23-12-2006 08:53 PM

Oh, thanks for that. Lauren - you could have just said 'NO' rather than all that 'hemisphere' poo. Lol.

Corkie 23-12-2006 08:55 PM

Right this has been bothering me for some while now ok-

Where in the nursery rhyme does it say humpty dumpty is an egg?

http://www.kiddyhouse.com/Songs/songclips/humpty.gif

Go through the rhyme and nothing will indicate it’s an egg so......

Dan_ 23-12-2006 08:56 PM

Someone like Ned Flanders is a square.
