Glen Campbell /Alzeheimers

This news has made me so very sad today ,as a child I was brought up with Glen Campbell music as my mom is a mega fan,she took me to a concert many years ago,she has a lovely photo of her and him which she treasures, and to hear the news he has Alzheimers and has done a final concert is like saying goodbye to something,I have seen numerous videos etc of him, from what I remember he is a fantastic guitar player and well admired, there is a movie coming out about his life which hopefully will raise more awareness of this cruel disease, anyway,it's sad.very sad.Anyone here a fan?

Aw, must be awful for you to see someone who probably one day will not remember you.:bawling:

I couldn't imagine anything worse... Although, my friend who works in the dementia ward of a care home says that although a lot of the time they patients dont recognise their family, they talk about them a hell of a lot when they arent around.

Still awfully sad though.

I honestly didn't think they would actually forget who you are,in that video he actually forgets who his WIFE was, that's really sad and must be even worse to watch.

My dad has forgotten that he has left home and is in care, his memory of old things is spot on but day to day its bad, I feel for my mum as she knows he wont ever come home again yet all his stuff is still there etc. He still recognises me but I know that wont last. I miss just speaking to him each day about football and politics.

Alzheimer's is the worst... and chronically underfunded.

I watched a programme on BBC 3 a while ago about Glenn Campbell, his career and his final concert tour. It was very sad... but what an amazing career he had.

He did have an amazing career Livia and it brings home ,no matter how talented , rich or successful anyone is , we all go out the same , but what a waste. I do love his music.
