She did a great interview on Jonathan Ross's show on Radio 2, we heard by accident, when she sang some of her songs. She seemed amusing and knew where she was going. Love her style, she deserves her number one spot.

Shes worked hard especially seeing as she only signed her record deal a year ago. Plus she has built up 97842 "friends" on her Myspace pages.

She has proved that she can sing live and has a humorous twist to her tracks. She deserves to be in the top spot!

BigSister 27-12-2006 11:10 AM

Dan_ 27-12-2006 11:33 AM

I don't like her or her music to be honest.

Good to see Paolo Nutini,Will Young,Justin Timberlake,James Morrison and Lemar in the top 20.

Chrizzle 27-12-2006 11:44 AM

She has an opinion and isn't afraid to say how she feels. But I wouldn't say she is horrid!

Why is she horrid?

Chrizzle 27-12-2006 11:54 AM

I liked Smile, until I realsied what it was all about.

I don't like the way shes so open about drugs. And shes young and a bad role model. Shes contantly bitching about people for no reason whatsoever, and I think the way she goes on stage drunk all the time is just a bad image. In her songs she talks about drugging people etc. Eugh I cant stand her!!!

Bells 27-12-2006 12:12 PM

I reckon that's a pretty good list, I'm not shocked that any of them are in the top 20, but I am a bit shocked at some of artists' positions - e.g. I expected Nelly Furtado and Beyonce to be higher, with Lily Allen and Will Young lower perhaps.

Still, well done to all of them.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that I don't normally tend to judge solo artists according to their personalities; for me it's always been about their music, since that's what we're meant to be judging them on anyway. And of course peoples' opinions differ on the topic of music, which is how it's meant to be.

Thats fair enough but having a strongly opinionated person is also a good point. I get sick of all this sugar and spice routine from female artists and then low and behold.... they check into rehab..... I would rather it be out in the open than closeted.

As for the b***hing.... she is not the only artist to have said a few words about other people in the business. It called having a character

Chrizzle 27-12-2006 12:25 PM

Well if having a 'character' makes you come across as a horrible person.
I'd rather having Leona's 'lack of personality' because at least shes a good role model.

I never said other people didnt bitch, I also never said I liked those people either.

Tanser_Man 27-12-2006 12:27 PM

Lilly Allen's nothing but a pished up druggie, she couldn't even remember her lines to one of her songs because she was smashed, had to get someone bring the lyrics to her which were printed off the internet! While she was being watched by her dad!

In my opinion anyway!

Sophii3x 27-12-2006 12:27 PM

Whooo Lily Allen is top :hello:

Ok... so she's said a few things about people.

With regards to her songs I've just taken a few examples off her album:

Smile: its about being badly dumped, and being happy when the person is hurt. I dont know about you, but I feel the same about ex's. When you get dumped it hurts, especially if you've had the dirty done on you. Of course your going to be bitter. She just expressing how she feels.

Knock 'Em Out: she singing about when someone you dont like keeps pestering you on the pull...... nothing derogatory in that????

LDN: not everything seems as it is...... there always bad thing if you look hard enough

Everything's Just Wonderful: In this she explains that you cant always get what you want, in the second half she implies that you dont have to be skinny and that she feels guilt if she has a spog bol....... but then goes on to say but so what.... it doesnt matter if your not a size "0"

Littlest Things: was the first and only love song she has written. If you listen it about missing someone so much that you would do anything to get them back

Friend of mine: in this she tries to tell her pal since she has known from school that her cocaine habit is well out of control.....that she should have more respect for her self

Alfie: ahhh now this is about her little brother smoking weed.... she is trying to make him stop and wanting him to get off his butt and do something with his life. I heard her being interviewed and she was asked if he was upset about this song. She said he was a little shocked but it made him stop and go do something with his life.

What I'm trying to say is that nobody will have the same taste etc with regards to music... but I dont think its fair to call her a horrid person

So what if she does drugs.... Oasis's Liam Gallagher also doesnt hid the fact that he does as has the singer from Keane! I dont see them getting slated..... yes she forgot her lines but so have loads of other artists. Take Jim Morrison....... he turned up smashed out of his skull and then got undressed on stage.... then arrested......

Chrizzle 27-12-2006 01:13 PM

I aint ever gonna like Lily Allen- until she sobers up and starts taking her work seriously.

Psylocke 27-12-2006 01:53 PM

Lily allen is a fake

It hardly set's the best example to impressionable youths, if it's going to effect your performance at a live show that someone's forked out a fair bit of their wages etc to see you and you end up coming on and forget your words and give an overall poor perfomance because of being on drug's you're going to feel short changed and totally pissed off, well I would anyway.

Legend 27-12-2006 02:55 PM

I don't think it matters if artists are on drugs or whatever, some of the nicest people are on drugs; so what? It does not make you a bad person.

Lily Allen isn't the most professional but that's what i personally like about her, i hate all this 'perfect, perfect' pretence that most artists put on whearas Lily Allen doesn't. Everyone forgets their words, it's going to happen and maybe it could have been helped is she weren't drunk but she was and she forgot her words, i don't see how that makes her a bad person. I personally really like her and i love her songs.

Also, as kizwiz has said in the post with some of Lily's songs on, she hasn't written her songs as a bad person, her songs are more real and i bet most of the UK could relate to her songs more than songs like 'A moment like this' (that's not a dig at Leona or the song as personally i love both) but yeah, i love Lily Allen and her song 'Alfie' could be about so many people i know, some that live in my road. Glad she is number 1 and also glad Pink, James Morrison, Will Young and Lemar are there.

Ok... so it doesnt give a good impression but while we're at it lets have a dig at others that havent exactly been behaving in the drugs department:

George Michael
Pete Burns
Michael Barrowmore
John Lenon
Sigmund Freud
Judy Garland
Stephen King
Eminem
Frank Zapper
Sid Viscous
Most of pink Floyd
Lewis Carrol
Eric Clapton
Kurt Cobain
Marilyn Manson
Cortney Love
Salvador Dali
Carrie Fisher
Jimi Hendrix
Whitney Houston
Janis Joplin
Bob Marley
Richard Nixon
Pablo Picasso
Elvis Presly
The Rolling Stone
Charles Dickens
Sir Arthur Colan Doyle
Pope Leo XIII
Jack Nicholson
Shelly, poet
Sting
Fat Boy Slim
King George the V
Robert Lewis Stevenson
Bill Gates
Judy Garland
Peter Fonda
Thomas Edison
Nick Drake
The Doors
Winston Churchill
Queen Victoria
Tori Amos

and the list goes on........

Its a fact of life that people do drugs........ nobody is perfect. I would rather somebody spoke up and said they did them instead hide away and be the 'perfect' angel.

She forgot her lines but I'm sure she is not the first or last to do this. Just because this happened shouldnt reflect on how she is as a artist. If it repeated happens then yes, she would be classed as unprofessional. As least she has an edge.
