Yes his discworld books are legendary and i would recommend anyone who has a sense of humour and likes a little fantasy to look them out.

As detailed on the BBC website

Quote:

Fantasy author Sir Terry Pratchett has died aged 66, having had Alzheimer's disease for eight years.

"The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds," said Larry Finlay of his publishing company, Transworld.

Best known for the Discworld series, Sir Terry wrote more than 70 books over his lengthy career.

He was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007, but continued writing, completing his final book last summer.

The author died at home "with his cat sleeping on his bed, surrounded by his family," Mr Finlay said.

"In over 70 books, Terry enriched the planet like few before him," he added.

Announcement: Sir Terry's thousands of fans on Twitter were alerted to the news of his death by a series of messages, finishing with: 'The End'. The character of 'death' always speaks in capitals in the Discworld series

But who wrote the tweets?? That's creeped me right out.

Very sad, as was his condition (he had alzheimer's disease) and really quite young. I read quite a few Discworld books in my tweens, also loved the first two PC games. The man had an incredible imagination; makes me wonder if his condition was, then, a sort of sad irony... Or if the quirks of his mind that allowed him such imagination were the same ones that eventually resulted in illness? Who knows. Still very sad though, such an awful disease.

Never heard of him before yesterday.
