sometimes when i go to the forum it wont show it but instead shows the site homepage, in the address bar will be the forum url but it still keeps me there until i either disconnect from my internet and reconnect or wait like half an hour +

what do i do to stop this/is it a fault on my behalf

this may sound stupid as I don't know if you have already tried this,

but try deleting all of your browsing history and all cache/cookies.

(i think) I have solved the problem
it was because of this 'domain advisor' **** that was tied in with software i had installed even though i clicked disagree for it, the sneaky bastards
