BGT 2015 - Wendy the Talking/Singing Dog!
I've just seen Wendy the talking Dog & her French owner.
So I thought I'd start a thread on how it's being done. My thoughts: What stuck out to me immediately was that the jaw/mouth isn't real, watching it back on YouTube a short moment ago confirmed it, the jaw is extremely unnatural in how it opens, the tongue never moves and isn't coloured very well. Next I tried to see how it was being operated, I don't think he's doing it at least not with his hands, I'm pretty sure there is somebody offstage, the dog starts offstage which is unusual in its own right, as it really doesn't serve anything to the act, so I'd imagine the second person is holding the dog. Anybody else have any ideas? Please feel free to counter me but be constructive, don't just call me wrong without providing your own theory. |
I thought it was a thing put over its mouth but maybe the dog was taught to open its mouth at those times?? idk

There's a trick in there for sure, but i love the act anyway.

Clearly ventriloquism, but not sure how the mouth was controlled. Though I did think as it walked of stage that there did seem unusual wavey hair around the mouth area, as if masking something. I also thought I saw someone reach for the dog as it got off stage, but that person was mainly obscured by Dec. I suspect it's one of those mouth things that appears on the Keith Lemon show every so often.
It is clear ventriloquism, and the judges appear to have been fooled into thinking otherwise. But was funny !! |

He gets asked what breed of dog it is and he bypasses the question with a joke (Rottweiler). I think that he didn't want to reveal the breed because it is in fact a breed with a flatter muzzle and it has a false muzzle secured on top. He could be wirelessly controlling it via a discrete button.

I loved the dog but was actually far from impressed with the act,I actually laughed at and enjoyed more the dog that kept chasing Ant to be honest.

It was fairly obvious that it had a fake fury bottom half of its face and it was a electronic mouth that opened and shut operated by the man.
As it ran off you could see it well |

I am more than certain that he had a foot pedal disguised in the base of the pedestal which held up the dog. There were then electronics in the pedestal which wirelessly transmitted a signal to the dog's fake muzzle type attachment.
However, there could just be a wire from the foot pedal and a connection point. The connection is then disconnected when the dog goes off stage Notice how the dog never "talks" while it is not on the pedestal. |
