This is clearly a lie. The unemployed dont want to work, they want to live the life of luxury on 70 quid per week :idc: As we are told repeatedly by the rags....

I recently advertised for a Warehouse op on a temp contract, paying minimum wage. To date I have had 863 applications and I ended the job after 3 days on the JCP and Indeed. The numbers of people applying for jobs is massive at the moment and the biggest frustration I find when talking to people is that companies are not acknowledging their applications but its not hard to see why. I send standard replies to acknowledge receipt but that in itself is a fairly big operation. People want to work, without question. Some of the people I have had applying have been highly skilled but willing to take a minimum wage role just to get back into work.

I remember reading about the local Aldi store last year and how they had thousands of people turn up for an open interview day.

He doesn't need a link Arista, he is explaining it from his own experience.

You might have a point. But people are forced to apply for jobs while claiming JSA.

I heard it on the radio news. But my dad's mate had applied for the job.

Livia 14-04-2015 10:08 AM

I find it very hard to believe. Very.

Isn't that the point?

It is, but some people don't want to work. I guess why so many people applied for one job is that in the past people on the dole could just sign on, get their money, and put heir feet up for two weeks, until the next sign on day.

Now, unless you've applied for at least 16 jobs a week, you could get sanctioned and lose your JSA.

So now we have all these people applying for jobs they neither want or are qualified to do.

Isn't that why it's called JOB SEEKER'S allowance.

You're not much of a job seeker if you're not applying for jobs.

Yes but I believe the point is people are applying for the sake of applying so they can comply with the targets set by the job centre instead of applying for work they are genuinely qualified for or interested in

That's not the point gusto was making.

Also, anyone can work on a supermarket shop floor and we all have to go for jobs that wouldn't necessarily be our first choice because we need the money.
