Sense8 (Series finale now on Netflix)

"Sense8 will tell the story of eight strangers (Smith, Middleton, Ameen, Bae, Silvestre, Desai, Riemelt, and Clayton) from different cultures and parts of the world, who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, suddenly find themselves mentally and emotionally connected – an evolutionary leap of technological origin. While trying to figure why this happened and what it means for the future of mankind, a mysterious and powerful man named Jonas will try to bring the eight together, while another stranger called Mr. Whispers and his organization will attempt to hunt them down to capture or assassinate them. Each episode will focus on one character and their story."

"The plot revolves around eight strangers from different parts of the world who suddenly become mentally and emotionally linked and it is set to explore subjects that its writers felt science fiction shows tend to ignore or skim through such as politics, identity, sexuality, gender and religion."

The Wachowskis haven't done a good film in years, I doubt this show will buck that trend.

Firewire 13-05-2015 02:02 AM

Very true but looks intriguing

I have just finished this first season and I loved it! Such good storylines with characters they can go on to develop really well and the "bigger picture" is real interesting.

Lito and Kala

I've been thinking about watching this, definitely gonna give it a go sometime. :)

RichardG 27-07-2015 10:17 PM

Netflix keep pushing for me to watch this/sticking it all over the front page on the recommended section, I might give it a go eventually. It seems to have got a relatively good reception?? Based on what Wikipedia says anyway.

Jords 27-07-2015 10:58 PM

Do it!!!!!

Theres kinda also a big orgy scene.

GypsyGoth 27-07-2015 11:02 PM

I got a bit tired of it after 4 or 5 eps, I stuck with it till the end but I'm not sure I'd watch another series.

Same, I'm bored with it right now.

I really enjoyed it, Kala was a weak character for the show though and brought Wolfgang's character down with her imo.

I like the fact that the show is planning for sequel seasons so it's not pushing the story to far ahead of where it should be at this point.

Capheus, Riley, Sun, and Lito was probably my favourites by the end of the season.

Oh and I'm intrigued by Will's story too.

Watched most of the first ep but it wasn't clicking with me so I gave up.

I just finished watching the first season of this show on Netflix and I absolutely loved It. Best new show of the year for me! A lot of the criticisms seem to focus on the slow pace of the series and the 'lack of action' but that's what I love about it. The character development is amazing and by the end of the series you feel like you know and care about each and every person inside out.

Furthermore, the cinematography and look of this show is memorising and they use each of the settings so well. The editing between the different locations is seamless and the actors were all wonderful- there wasn't one character I didn't like by the end of it. I'm so excited about where they will take it for season 2 as this series has so much potential!

Watched the first two episodes now and it reminds me a lot of the first season of Heroes. Great diversity, settings, and the characters are all likeable / relatable enough (aside from being almost exclusively beautiful lol but that's hollywood)

Favourite characters are definitely the DJ girl, safecracker and the trans woman atm.

Smithy 04-10-2015 07:14 AM

I got to the end of ep 5 and gave up, honestly it was so damn slow

Shaun 05-10-2015 04:23 AM

Watched two more episodes  The show needs a lot more sequences of everyone merging together to pull off something a bit 'epic' (a la Nomi's escape from hospital, or Capheus' bus fight) but tbh I'm kind of enjoying each individual's development anyway. Jonas is compelling too. Only character I'm not particularly drawn to atm is the gay actor but then his beard is a babe so never mind.

It's a very marmite programme so do be prepared that you're less likely to have a middle ground opinion of the show and are more likely to either love it or hate it.

That's if you give the show a shot of course.

Did you like/watch any of Lost, Battlestar Galactica, or Heroes?

Locke. 05-10-2015 11:24 AM

There are some issues (especially in the first half of the season) but it's a good show overall. Hope Naveen Andrews' character gets featured more in Season 2

Firewire 06-10-2015 10:22 PM

Just finished. Slow burner at the start but picked up pace in episode 4. LOVED it.

Shaun 07-10-2015 02:00 AM

Well the ending of episode 7 was pretty damn tense
