Sarah's views on Gender
 

I'm not sure whether or not i'm alone in this but anybody else have issues with Sarah's ideologies about gender? The other day when she spoke about needing a wealthier man, it made logical sense to me as she has a child and thus a fiscal responsibility. That being said, in yesterday night's show she said that the man should be the 'chaser' and that in her eyes, it should be a man proposing. This comment here along with the comment previously about needing a wealthier man made me think - are Sarah's ideologies so deeply engrained in the gender binary that she fails to see how maintaining those views so strongly put a inherent pressure on both males and females? I don't really like comments like this because firstly it characterizes the female as the 'sex object' that needs to be 'chased' while simultaneously forcing the male into that 'dominant'/'pursuer' category.

I don't think it's to do with gender, I just think she wants to be the one worshipped rather the other way around.

Fair, I hear your point and can definitely see how she may view it in that way. I suppose it's just the connotation I gathered from listening to that conversation

Yes her views are a bit 1970's and I just thought when she said those comments why does she get off her own arse and provide for her own child or get the real farther to do so.

Then in any partner she can focus on their character more than their bank balance which to me would be a far more responsible move as a parent.

I don't like her she is sly and gobby. I see a good few people dissing Jade on these forums but Sarah is far far worse. I didn't like her comments about the lower classes either. I am praying she is up for eviction and if she is I AM hoping SHE IS OUT

Sarah's ideas are deeply engrained by thousands of years of history and won't be undone any time soon, nor should they be as it is the natural order of things.

I think she's just an old fashioned type of girl, wanting to be proposed to and wanting the stability of a man who earns a bit of money, i don't necessarily see anything wrong with that.

Alot of women prefer to be chased.I've 'met' women who have told me "i like a man to be a man" meaning to be the chaser and more dominant and bring home the bacon etc.Obviously not all women are the same but some prefer it like that which is fine imo.

I'm not sure that she does just sit on her arse?

As for the father, we have no idea whether he contributes or not.

I agree with what you say about old fashioned values...just think it's a shame that she thinks money gives her stability in a relationship. It doesn't..it buys you a quality of life that she desires...it doesn't bring you the love that is required for a stable relationship...it's very shallow IMO...
Her views on 'common' people is just snobbery. There are real Chavs and real low life's in this world but many 'common' people who have better morales and 'real ness' about them that make them better people than Sarah and those she leans towards....and Harriet is one of them.

It's quite an old fashioned view, I'd say she wants an easy life

The girl is a hot mess of almost every crappy perspective in modern society.

Greedy, lazy thinking, vain, elitist, and lacking in empathy.

Sarah makes me wince every time she gets screen time... Her being 'hot' isn't enough to give her a pass.

I'm very old fashioned, so i would never propose, to me that's the guys job. i also wouldn't expect to pay if i went on a date - if the guy asked me to pay half on a date i wouldn't see him again. I thought this was something all girls felt, until i was talking to my friend and she said that she pays for everything when she goes out with her boyfriend. so maybe it's just my family's way lmao.
So i do share some of Sarah's views, like i can get where she's coming from.

Now is this just a first-time date thing or do you expect the guy to pay for every date?

This is why I'm glad I'm gay, much simpler. If I was on a date with a girl, no way would I be paying the entire bill just because I happen to be male. :laugh:

I think it's important for a woman to be as independant as possible. For it to be a meeting of equals, the woman should pay her share etc., and not expect the man to always foot the bill.

i think a lot of men feel that way nowdays and tbh i don't blame them lmao but it used to be a lot different according to my mum, a guy would never expect a girl to pay for anything back in the day

And she obviously doesn't view gender as a spectrum (which it is).

So who would you say should pay for the first meal in a gay, lesbian or even trans couple? I respect the fact that it's only the first time though, and can understand where your ideologies are coming from. There's this girl I know who says a boy has to pay for every meal, or else it's not a date. And this person calls herself a feminist too.. ::facepalm:
