Poetry Corner

I'm sure we had a poetry thread up a while ago, but I can't be bothered looking for it!

I thought you'd like to read Graeme's poem about yesterday's weather, it's for his homework this weekend and I think it's really good!

Every Day 28/02/03

Every day, flooded paths,
Just like the swimming baths.
Every day, really cold,
Yourself, you need to hold.

Every day, no need for a fan,
No chance, to get a tan.
Every day, your’e gonna get wet,
Now that, I’m willing to bet.

Every day, don’t go out,
Sunny? Ha, that I doubt.
Every day, freezing,
A coat you need to bring.

Every day, total misery,
Streets, look like the sea.
Every Day, cloud and mist,
At the sky, I show a fist.

Every day, Every day,
It’s like this, Every day.

Anyone else got any good poems?

I am definately no poet, but here is my feeble attempt

Me

Look deep into my eyes.
Tell me what you see.
Entranced by my transfixed gaze.
Slip into my mind.

Look into my past.
Tell me what is there.
I was happier than most.
There is no excuse for me.

Where did it go wrong?
Tell me what you’ve done.
What shrouds my mind in darkness?
Purely teenage angst?

Look into my future.
Amuse me with what you see.
Are you afraid to tell me?
It is no news to me.

Don’t try to look into my soul.
There is nothing there.
Amuse yourself with pettiness.
I shall sleep no more.

This may be cheating, as I did not compose this, but I believe this is quite well known after its use in "Four Weddings and a Funeral"

Stop all the Clocks

W H Orden

Stop all the clocks
Cut off the telephone
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone
Silence the pianos
And with muffled drum, bring out the coffin
Let the mourners come.

Let airplanes circle
Moaning over head
Scribbling in the sky, the message, "He is dead"
Put crape bows around the necks of the public doves
Let the traffic policeman wear black cotton gloves

He was my North, My South
My East and West
My working week and Sunday Rest
My Noon, my Midnight, my talk, my song
I thought that Love would last for ever
I was wrong

The stars are not wanted now
Put out every one
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood
For nothing now can ever come to any good

:bawling::bawling: I cried my eyes out at Four Weddings and a Funeral when this poem was read out. :bawling::bawling:

It so nice by yet so sad.....

Here's a couple of little gems from my Autograph Book when I took it in on my last day of school for my friends to sign - quite a few years ago now!!!!!

A bunny has a shiny nose
But this he cannot mend
Because his little powder puff
Is up the other end!

~~~~~
~~~~~

A little bit of powder
A little bit of paint
Makes a girl's complexion
Look what she ain't!

~~~~~
~~~~~

And this is a little rude so I apologise....

I love you dearly
I love you mighty
I wish your pyjamas
Were next to my nightie
Now don't get excited
And don't get misled
I mean on the clothes-line
And not in the bed!

:laugh:Miriam, do you remember this one?:laugh:

I've been trying to remember all the lines for a poem you helped me with at School! It went something like this:

A goblin lived inside a hut,
He was a jolly fellow.
The funny thing about him was,
He loved the colour yellow.

A yellow chair and table,
Sat beside a yellow mat.
He had a little yellow coat,
And a small yellow hat.

One day while walking in the field,
Some buttercups he saw,
Growing nearby a muddy pool,
A hundred, maybe more!

But as he reached to pick them,
To put in his wee dish,
He slipped into the muddy pool,
And was swallowed by a fish!

A woeful tale, I must agree,
I hear you cry "Poor fellow",
But here's the happy ending now,
You see...the fish was yellow!!!

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I couldn't remember all of the lines but this was the general gist:spin2::spin2:

Did we get 10 out of 10 for it?

Ode to TIBB

Been writing poems for someone who is leaving at work and after reading the above came up with this. Hope you like it.

Friends and family think I'm mad
Well if not mad, then simply sad
They ask why can't you just move on
Remember that programme's long and gone

My reaction is, why should I alter
Others have hobbies, why should I falter
I'm doing no-one any hurt
Enjoying myself, now that's a cert

My interest is shared by many another
We keep to ourselves we are no bother
To those who do not think alike
If you dont like it, then take a hike

What disease is this from which we suffer
It makes us strong and even tougher
It makes us mad, it makes us sad
We want an ending that will make us glad

Its BBitis that we all share
Tell us its wrong, just dont you dare!
We don't intend to take a pill
Cos we are fine, we are not ill

So to TIBB we'll all keep faithfull
Our time on line we don't feel wasteful;
We swap our stories, we swap our tales
With friends from north, south and even Wales

This loyalty must soon win out
So we can all both scream and shout
There's one thing we all want to hear
Please let that day be pretty near

What is this we all want to hear
As time goes by and BB4 draws near
I'll let you guess says Busy Bee
My fingers are crossed Paul, do it for me.

I've loved all the poems, guys. You're all stars. Keep them coming!!

BTW, BusyBee, I agree with you completely. This is what we want to see on a certain person's left hand:

Thanks one and all , I have enjyed the poems too.

How about this writen by an 11 yr old

The Spider

First he's in the kitchen,
Then he's in the hall,
Then he's in the bathroom, I don't like it at all,
Then he's in my bedroom ,
I really had a fright....
Cos, he walked all over me ,
in the middle of the night !

I love it. One of the Y6 teachers at my school showed it to me 'cos he knows I like poetry.
