Final Fantasy VII Remake - Will be split into multiple full sized games

It should be noted, three of FF's biggest developers are working on the game, Nojima, Nomura and Kitase

Can you imagine what some of the cutscenes are going to be like? The plate dropping? Sapphire Weapon vs the Junon cannon? Dribbling.

All I can say though... is that it better still have Chocobo breeding and racing. And the Bike and Snowboard mini games. I won't settle for anything less.

Scarlett. 16-06-2015 03:47 PM

I hope they kept some of the more comedic elements in, lol.

The entire Wall Market section, if they don't butcher it, could be completely hilarious and at the same time really, really dark and twisted... Like when Cloud is passed out on the bed being mounted by a big guy with a moustache and a red mankini. Or when Corneo is trying to "choose a girl" and effectively grinding and jizzing in his pants. I sort of think that only worked as comedy because of the little blocky characters - with a fully motion captured, high res, high polygon count greasy pervert thrusting away... it could start to mess with the age ratings. Rufus Shinra and Dark Nation boss battle is going to be my pinnacle of Video Game Greatness

I think they'll probably change that section up quite a bit, like you said a lot of the comedy came from the graphics and I think it'll be harder to strike the right tone in the remake.

I can definitely see a lot of the extraneous mini games going like sneaking out of Aeris' house or giving the kiss of life to Priscilla or the snow stuff. They definitely won't get rid of Chocobo racing or the bike although I can see them parting with the snowboard game, at least in the story, I imagine it could still appear in the Gold Saucer.

Tom4784 16-06-2015 10:20 PM

One of the things I do hope they change are some characters' limit breaks. They should change Yuffie and Red's Level 4 to something actually useful and I think you should be able to control Vincent's beast forms.

When it comes to the Story I'd like Jenova to be highlighted more since she plays a massive role in the story but at the same time it's very vague. I also want Zack to have a bigger role, perhaps he can appear in flashbacks earlier on. Crisis Core really built him up as a compelling character and I'd like to see that reflected here.

Novo 16-06-2015 11:08 PM

I kind of like how mysterous Zack was and how he was hardly mentioned in the story until much later on when the real version of events come to light, i think Aerith was the only person who hinted he existed and his mum and dad in Gongaga just after the Gold Saucer

I hope they keep Cloud's personality true to VII, and don't make him like he was in Advent Children.

Definitely, he had a dry sense of humor in FFVII so I hope they don't make him a dull misery guts like he was in AC.

I love that they have Nomura directing, makes so much sense about him leaving XV now.

Calderyon 17-06-2015 12:49 AM

Hmm... This might be the thing to make me get a PS4. And a new TV, since the old one has been broken for many years.

Scarlett. 17-06-2015 02:21 AM

Nomura has confirmed the wacky elements will remain :D

I'm just not sure how they're going to make Cloud into an attractive female that Corneo might choose, in full HD... Haha. They have to leave the cross dressing in though, it's iconic. The Honeybee has to stay, too, but you're right that getting the tone right there will surely be hard. Brothels played for laughs can't be easy without the cartoony style...

The kiss of life scene as a minigame has to go, I don't know if it's just me, but every time I play through the game - and I've done it about 15 times, the last time just a few months ago on Vita - it takes me forever to get it to work?? "ssssp, ssssp, ssssp, ssssp, ssssp.... Psssshhhhh". And repeat, FOREVER. Sneaking out of Aeris' house is also a pain until you memorise the right path :joker:.

Oh and another thought... Whoever voice acts Barrett fo damn sho better nail the "MAAARRRRLLLEEEEEE----EEEENE!!!" scene. Foo'. Nothing less than an emotionally charged and slightly racially stereotypical bellow will do.

What's great is, the original writer, Nojima is writing, so IMO, he can make adjustments without ruining it.

Technically, it's his story so he can make whichever changes he feels are necessary. e.g. it sounds like there will be more focus on "the calamity from the skies" (Jenova) as an integral part of the set up (the history of the world) from the beginning rather than something that isn't apparent until Sephiroth / Hojo starts babbling about it, and I sort of feel like this was probably always intended in the story concept. I've also heard that there are things that were somewhat lost in translation, and they have a chance to ensure that that's rectified. I think the original was only localised by an English-speaking Japanese team? These days there are a load of translation stages... the original writing > English-fluent Japanese translators > Japanese-fluent native English translators > another pass by talented writers in English. It's a very robust process these days for AAA titles. Although I personally miss some of the weirdly translated phrasing in games!

One thing that is concerning me though... FFXV (as Versus) was announced at E3 nine effing years ago and is only just taking shape as a finished product. I have a horrible feeling that the FF7 remake might end up not materialising until the end of the PS4's lifecycle as a "swan song", or even an early PS5 title D:.

This guy's reaction is priceless...

There were a few factors that played into that, the main one being the last CEO was a nutjob.
