Mirror opinion article on current state of Big Brother.

It all went wrong from the fake eviction of a gobby excrement-stirrer named Marc and talk of a replacement in the house.

Joel: “Can you imagine if they put in someone worse than Marc?”

Danny: “No.”

Neither could I. Until…

“Hi, I’m Helen Wood, the reigning champion of Big Brother.”

Oh joy. The venomous bully and mirth vacuum who made last year’s series *unwatchable, back for Time Warp Week.

Along with fellow ex-housemates Brian Belo and the original wasp-chewing *professional whinge-bucket Nikki “who IS she?” Grahame.

Within minutes, any fading hopes for this flat series evaporated.

Hmm, I tend to agree with most of the things that he's saying. The most interesting part though is that 58% of the readers have given up on the series.

Well people are clearly liking it that the legends went in as ratings have improved (1.2 every night apart).

This Saturday got the highest rating for a Saturday.

I do agree to a certain extent. I was enjoying this series before the 4 in 4 out but unfortunately the viewers do not appear to be happy until the bully aspect comes into it and arguments ensue. I will stick with this series until my favourite goes and then that will be the end for me. I just find that BB has become very difficult to watch since Helen returned. It's all too much and she has dragged Marc down to her level. Let's be honest the original housemates have been used as pawns to be picked on, ridiculed and forced into confrontation all in the name of entertainment.

C5 have backed BBUK into a corner it has been obvious to anybody that has knowledge of what made BBUK popular in the first place that C5 and their particular brand of scum loving attempts to attract Jeremy Kyle, towie, geordie shore, love island type of viewers has succeeded but has in the process destroyed everything that made BBUK successful and left nothing but an empty shell of a show.

This strange audience apparently Howl yet only dogs Howl are they dogs?

enjoyed by people that scream? I thought only women in distress screamed whats wrong with these kids?

Does anybody even care about the Mirror. If anything Helen has improved it <3

Gusto Brunt 21-06-2015 12:39 PM

Who can trust The Mirror. :p

EspeonBB 21-06-2015 12:42 PM

Yeah BB is in a dire state atm (hence the flop ratings). No wonder most people aren't continuing with the series

mrmattybeck1 21-06-2015 03:22 PM

It's awful now Helen is a complete bitch and production is a complete mess

The series has been a non event from the beginning and while ratings might be (very slightly) up they are still bad. She might be controversial but for people who don't like, like myself, she has made this un-watchable. There are other ways of bringing up the ratings. Or there was, maybe this year has killed it off.

I am not looking forward to CBB all all this year and I am normally excited by now :(

Hope producers (whoever is left at the end of the summer) read this article

Who cares what the Daily Moron thinks?

This series has been horrendous from the start. We knew the housemates identities a few days previous to it even beginning and the production has been abysmal.

The constant arguments are off putting and contrived. The producers were worried that they would have a Big Brother 4 on Channel 5 so decided to swap the housemates in an attempt to revive ratings and gain the casual viewers attention.

It has backfired badly. The ratings have increased slightly but I feel once Nikki and Brian have gone and Helen has, they will decrease. I cannot see a long term future for Big Brother. It should have been laid to rest on Channel 4.

I despise how Channel 5 add the inane sirens to the eviction, how they have to overplay the music on every launch night when housemates go down the stairs into the house, the Bit on The Side programme. I was reminiscing about the old BB7 when they had Big Mouth and BBLB. For me, that is the BB I want to remember.

That is what you worry about when your favourite show, like BB moves different channels. You wonder if it will get better or worse. Sadly, it has gotten decidedly worse.

For me, I would get:
1. As many of the Channel 4 production back as possible
2. Get Phil Edgar Jones, Shirley Jones and Sharon Powers. Even Ruth Wrigley who edited the first three series
3. Have auditions around the country
4. Reintroduce live feed
5. Have live tasks on a Saturday night.

What a load of old rubbish from a rubbish red top rag. It's just an idiots opinion that's all. I could easily write an opposing article slagging off the ones that the Mirror is clearly supporting. Such a bias piece of rubbish.

That just proves how much the viewers hate the show unless Nikki and Brian are in there; they remind them of a time when the show was good.

Going by viewing figures is extrememly complex - and its better to go with the media/twitter

for example this year there is no world cup
there is no tennis on
there is no x factor etc - nothing to compete with it for ratings

the weather is pants so people arent out and about
theres a recession so fewer people are on holiday - able to go out etc

in terms of satisfaction - I think its pretty low - I would not in least suspect that if they put game of thrones on C4 at the same time every Friday BB would get a look in

But saying that - I think for people who remember the old BB such as myself - would record it to see Brian etc although I would be put off seeing Helen again

The poll results have changed if anyone's interested. 60% are now saying that they're giving up on this series.
