Who shouldn't have been cast this year?

So, we all know production has hit rock bottom this year. However, casting was the only thing marginally OK about this series. That being said, how many do you think actually deserved to be cast on the merit of their personality and presence alone?

I think the people who deserved to be cast are: Adjoa, twins, Chloe, Harriet, Jack, Jade, Joel, Kieran, Nick, Sam and Sarah - quite a lot. Yes, Adjoa and Jade are models but at least Adjoa had a personality, and Jade was a fan of the show.

The people in my opinion who shouldn't have been cast are: Aaron, Cristian, Danny, Eileen, Harry Amelia, Marc and Simon. All either fame-hungry or useless recruits who add nothing to the house whatsoever. Who would you say? Remember this is not who you like/dislike but who deserved to be cast in BB16.

Poll coming. :)

I generally don't care about whether someone is a recruit or not, that doesn't bother me, what bothers me more are people who go in there and add nothing to the show for me personally, so for me Aaron, Cristian, Chloe, Danny and Jack.

Raph 28-06-2015 01:27 PM

To add to my post, the reason I picked Eileen and Simon is because it angers me that the only older people represented in the house had to be two people already involved in the media. Like Harriet said, that's not an accurate representation of our society and is so damn boring to watch!

Don't you think Chloe represents the average BB viewer more than any other housemate in there (with the exception of Nick)? For me, that alone makes her deserving of being there. Like she said, she's watched the show for years, will always be a normal person and just wanted to do something special before she settled down. The fact that such a normal person got through the casting process filled with models etc makes her even more deserving in my opinion, as that couldn't have been easy!

Marc is the only glaring example for me. He's not as OTT horrible now as he was after his fake eviction but his boring, fabricated personality and bullying has still made me turn off the tv many times. He's the biggest series destroyer I've seen on BBUK. There's not much use for people like Simon or Sam either but at least they mostly keep their mouths shut.

Nah not really, 'normal' to me doesn't directly correlate to 'deserving' there have been many, many normal people over the years and not all of them have been deserving, to me a 'deserving' housemate is someone who makes the most of the, primarily, once in a life time opportunity, I'd rather be entertained by a recruit than bored to tears by a 'normal person'

And if we look at it technically, people in media these days, are becoming the norm, our society as a whole is so reliant on the media and social media presence these days that it's not all that unusual to be scene as 'somebody' especially with the powers of Twitter and Youtube.

A 'normal' person could go in there and be the biggest dick in the entire world, whereas a recruit could go in there and be the nicest, funniest person in the world and that's what matters to me, not what their job is or how they got onto the show, don't get me wrong, it is nice to see people like Harriet go on there and be from a humble background, but someone being scouted isn't detrimental to my viewing experience or my opinion of them.

Fair, I respect your opinion. However I think once you go through auditions and see so many 'normal' people with fascinating personalities and then the cast ends up having recruits like Danny and Cristian instead, it can be infuriating. Also, whilst I see your point, the average UK citizen/BB viewer hasn't been on a reality tv show with Winston (BB15) or is best friends with Ricci from Geordie Shore like Danny. The average UK citizen/BB viewer also wouldn't have a Vevo channel on youtube.

Recruiting is a very beneficial process to Big Brother UK as you can get characters like Derek BB6 who was totally deserving of his place. However, the way Channel 5 recruits nowadays, it's never on the basis of personality imo, even though it should be. Agreed about Harriet though, the best moment of the series for me was when she said how much being on the show meant to her, in her eviction interview.

Raph 28-06-2015 01:43 PM

Remember, people like Danny and Cristian don't even have to go through the whole audition process like someone like Chloe would've done, as they get fast-tracked to the final stages as they 'have a celebrity friend'. This also contributes to me thinking they're less deserving of their place in the house.

Daniel-X 28-06-2015 01:46 PM

Cristian and Kieran both have added nothing to the series and have been tediously boring to watch. It was good Kieran went early on otherwise you could guarantee he would still be in that house now without the 4In4Out twist. He was just wallpaper as is Cristian now.

The others as much as I dislike or like them have proven in some way that they should have been cast and have added something to the series

waterhog 28-06-2015 01:48 PM

very unfair on danny at present - hope it changes as more vote - please remember what has nick done apart from flick hair ? or sam ?

lewis111 28-06-2015 01:50 PM

I don't really mind if people aren't "normal", and I wouldn't say someone didn't deserve to be cast beaus they're not but I do prefer the normal. I Think Marc is too fake nasty, like obvious game-playing. Helen last year was just a nasty person, and I kinda prefer that. Cristian has given very little and shown little respect when saying "WHO the ******* was that" when Pete came in.
I just think if you have a unique or entertaining personality naturally you deserve to be on this show, if not, bore off.

Black Dagger 28-06-2015 01:50 PM

Eileen was a goddess and a "recruit" it's such a boring argument. The only eh signing really was Keiran. He was never going to fit in. But I enjoyed him.

Black Dagger 28-06-2015 01:52 PM

And technically Jack is a recruit as well. He was on tv daily for a month at least.

LukeB 28-06-2015 01:52 PM

Aaron,Cristian,Danny,Simon and marc

There's nothing inherently wrong with recruits, Lucas. Hira was a recruit and she's my favorite female housemate of all time. The issues is when recruits get recruited just for the looks or because of acquaintances they have. The further issue is when they get preferential treatment in casting and get fast-tracked.

Voted for every single one of them.

Thanks for explaining further luv. It looked like you had issues with recruits in general just for producers daring to cast them!

I find it awful how Sarah and Harriet went over Danny :bored:

but Cristian will never have been casted if he wasn't attractive and I liked Danny at first but he turned into a bore and a dick.

Ellen 28-06-2015 02:03 PM

Nick, Harry and Marc.
Nick and Harry might as well stay in the bed for the whole duration, he needs help for the face touching and nose picking.

Marc is too OTT, saying nasty things, doing nasty things, doesnt take no for an answer, goads people. There is a point where it becomes too much and Marc goes past that point a lot. I also think he has stopped other HM's developing.

QueenCharley 28-06-2015 02:10 PM

Still pressed about Sarah and Harriet leaving prematurely.

In all honesty I think Adjoa was a massive mistake, she was awfully overrated and fell way too short of any hopes I had of her. The twins were also useless.

Sam and Harry Amelia are pretty poor casting choices too. They're not entertaining and I knew from the start that their VT personas were not going to be fulfilled yawn

Cherie 28-06-2015 02:13 PM

I voted Jade by accident :fist:

Mullens123 28-06-2015 02:19 PM

Danny, Cristian, Aaron and Jack for being generally bad housemates. Twins as I hate a duo housemate... And Joel because if he is serious about his political dreams he's come to the wrong place.

Most of them. The only ones that deserved to go in because they actually DID something are Adjoa, Eileen, Harriet, Jade, Joel, Kieran and Nick
