Thinks having a mortgage is an achievement

How small time is that?

susie q 01-07-2015 09:48 PM

Actually she is right, particularly for young people. Not everyone is a high earner, or has a rich relative to help them out. I think it is ridiculous to mock her, or put in this ugly twitter
piece for just stating what is a fact of life for a lot of young people.

nonstop 01-07-2015 09:52 PM

Um, for a young woman in todays economy it's actually an achievement.

MB. 01-07-2015 09:53 PM

It is. :umm2:

Gusto Brunt 01-07-2015 10:03 PM

No one I know can get a mortgage .

andybigbro 01-07-2015 10:04 PM

Surely that tweet in the op signature is fake?

No it is real, apparently.

Tell that to people with a portfolio of properties.

As ambitions go, getting a mortgage is up there with "having kids" and "getting married." It is just a normal part of life.

And to think that "getting a mortgage" compares with Marc getting a university education and becoming a scientist, is laughable.

BB1984 01-07-2015 10:09 PM

Nevermind the mortgage, what really bothered me was when Chloe tried to talk to Marc about an education & Marc would not engage her.
She went into the bedroom & Aisleyne followed her inside & they seemed to be of the opinion that an education is unimportant.
John quickly told them they are being hysterical.

Chuckyegg 01-07-2015 10:10 PM

its not a real proper acheivement, like a lobotomy, a boob job and a footballer boyfriend

Everyone wants different things. I don't see anything wrong in that.

Then she should respect his education and stop trying to compare her completely normal achievement with his actually quite impressive one.

Vicky. 01-07-2015 10:14 PM

Honestly, with how things are today, having a mortgage at her age IS a fantastic achievement. Hell even having a job is an achievement.

RodHull 01-07-2015 10:17 PM

I have a mortgage Im so happy im special.

Except when I consider that actually all that means is that I owe a faceless bank an amount of money it will take me most of my life to pay off it doesnt seem that special.

It really isn't.

Anyone with a stable job and a deposit can get a mortgage and I doubt she got the deposit herself. I reckon daddy paid for it.

A real achievement is going to college for years and becoming a scientist.

If it's someone's choice I don't see it as quantifiable.

Frightening isn't it. People think that being a debt slave is an achievement.

Exactly.

So let Marc gloat about his education achievement without having a pop at him.

just thinkin 01-07-2015 10:24 PM

Funny..the so called educated ones are having to hand back their big ego trip houses now..so yes a young girl getting a mortgage in this day and age is actually a great achievement. .doesnt anyone qatch the news.. remember you can be book smart but life thick. Books are only other peoples thoeries....life lessons are your own.

Macie Lightfoot 01-07-2015 10:26 PM

the amount of judgment being cast is absurd

MB. 01-07-2015 10:28 PM

You clearly haven't got my point.

I know people in their 20s who own their houses outright. I know people that age who rent out properties.

Tell them that having a mortgage is an achievement.
