i feel bad for him family, but my god, what an idiot.

swinearefine 07-07-2015 02:43 AM

This happened in my town :( I didn't really know him but some of my friends did, and the story is being misrepresented by the media from what I've heard. He wasn't actually trying to light them from his head, he was pretending to and made a dumb mistake. I feel awful for the family, the comments have been so vicious online and off.

That's why they shouldn't have made fireworks legal here... it was a five-hour drive to New Hampshire to even get them and even if you got them, there was a pretty good chance the police would get them once the complaints started coming in. I even had my sparklers confiscated when I was a kid at the fourth once ffs, and now they let any old hick essentially play with bombs?

Well, when you play with fire(works) expect to get burnt. :(

That's something I saw when I read this story earlier, that they used to be illegal. Is this normal across the US or what?

I don't get why they should be illegal, people use them in other countries (like the UK) perfectly safely  you have to be 18 to buy or light them of course, but still

Yeah I don't understand why people feel it necessary to be so nasty about the guy, he's dead, he made a silly mistake. People should try and put themselves in his families position and how would they feel if it was a relative of theirs

bots 07-07-2015 11:13 AM

Nearly every accident that causes an injury is as a result of a silly mistake. Fortunately the majority do not result in death, but still too many do. This is just a mistake again with a tragic outcome

I absolutely hate how quick people are to insult those who get killed because of a single stupid decision. He clearly didn't understand the actual risk at that very time and that doesn't make him an idiot, or his death part of natural selection, what an insane link to make. It's hugely unfortunate that his lapse in decision making happened to be of deathly consequence. People are so quick to downplay another's existence and act all high and mighty about it as if they're incapable of messing up occasionally.

Agree with all those who think people are being overly harsh about this guy...
