Did VTS really keep the good ones in?

I've not seen any of the civilian series with VTS, but when good characters leave over boring ones, I see posts on here and DS which bemoan VTE. Did the VTS days get rid of the deadwood and save the good ones?

No, people just overstate the impact of VTS when things don't go their way in VTE.

(also vice versa)

This.

If you class tedious dickheads like Conor and Katie Hopkins as "good ones", then yep, VTS keeps the good ones in.

MB. 24-07-2015 07:17 PM

Solution: don't cast awful people who they know full well will dominate the highlights shows?

y.winter 24-07-2015 07:17 PM

Let the Conor posts begin!

I share the sentiment that VTS is overrated in terms of how sucessful it is in keeping big characters around, but I prefer it over VTE more then anything because I feel that VTE causes more producer manipulation over the nomination process. We should all know by now that production likes to play favourites, and with VTS you had somewhat of a safety net to keep around the larger personalities whilst still making it appear as if there was a comparitive fairness. With VTE however we get situations similar to what happened with Marc and Hellbitch in the past two seasons where production can't trust the public to keep controversial personalities in so resort to desperate twists and gimmicks to keep them away from the baying public who would get shot of them at the first chance ala Marc. It makes the show seem even more farcical then what it already is.

At the same time however I feel that VTS's biggest flaw is that by being a safety net for larger characters it means that the house's storylines can't progress because the bigger characters clog up the airtime, we saw with Speidi in CBB11 that VTS keeping them around caused the show to stagnate on a Rylan vs Speidi storyline which got incredibly tedious by season's end, yet with BB14 a series which lost big characters like Sallie, Wolfy, Jemima early on caused the likes of Callum and Charlie to come out of their shells and develop into great personalities, which may not have happened if BB14 had VTS.

And Perez Hilton
And James Jordan

remember when VTS saved Lauren Goodger(is that her name idk) and Ricc on CBB14? they were so entertaining :D

y.winter 24-07-2015 07:25 PM

With VTS we would have marc winning this series. Thankfully it was VTE, so I couldn't care less about the Conor thing.

Yep. VTS would have saved this series.

Dullards Chloe and Danny would have been evicted in week 2.

MB. 24-07-2015 07:29 PM

Well actually Danny had a huge fan base in week two, hence him being in the top three for the 'winner' poll four days in

MB. 24-07-2015 07:29 PM

(and Harriet would have stayed too, which would have been abysmal)

Taxi accuser Chloe would have definitely gone. And Harriet staying would have been brilliant for the series when she went up against Marc and Helen later on.

Lostie! 24-07-2015 07:33 PM

I actually think Danny would have been even less likely to go under VTS. Actually, had Sarah not pissed people off, I think he'd have gone that night.

VanessaFeltz. 24-07-2015 07:34 PM

I think Chloe would be first out then Kieran then Twins then Sarah.

Meaning Harriet&Danny staying. Tbh Harriet vs Helen would be amazing

Well isn't this a surprise, we don't often agree but on this we do

4in4out ruined the series and robbed us of even better reactions to Helen's presence had Harriet, Sarah and the twins still been around

Ramsay 24-07-2015 07:35 PM

Harriet woulda licked Helen's arse let's not kid ourselves

This series was ruined when dumbass producers swapped nominations.

Aaron Jade Cristian Joel would've gone (I dont think producers would remove him if he was getting evicted anyways or they would reduce it to 3 out) and we lost jade anyways we still would be better off with this

Yes, 4in4out did spoil things and only Harriet and Sarah staying during 4in4out could have salvaged it I think.

I would have loved to see how it would have panned out once Aaron was ejected and Sarah was gunning for Joel. But we was robbed, as they say.

I'm not so sure about that, she'd have hated Marc for his treatment of Chloe early on especially and that would've been hilarious in itself, and Marc and Helen teaming up would've cemented her hatred for her I reckon

I think the Brian and Helen incident would've panned out very differently if those three were still there, and Jade hadn't been evicted

Ant. 24-07-2015 07:51 PM

VTS saved Katie Hopkins and Perez Hilton in January, and I think it's safe to say that they wouldn't survive a VTE. Also VTS (or was it VTW?) eventually got rid of Kavana (thank god) but, at the same time, Perez
VTE has been great in some instances, such as Winston's iconic eviction last year

The only person I wanted out after the nominations were switched in 4in4out was Danny (and kinda Sarah after what she said to Joel). To be honest, I'd rather the entire house was up (Getting rid of Danny, Cristian, Jack, and Aaron all in one would've been ideal for me, albeit very unlikely), just as long as we got to see the confrontation between Kieran and Marc and Harriet, Sarah, the twins vs Helen

4in4out was a trainwreck anyway, I'd rather they just put the four housemates in and then had a couple of double evictions scattered throughout the series.
