Fables (Bill Willingham)

From Wikipedia:

Quote:

Fables is a comic book series published by DC Comics's Vertigo imprint beginning in 2002. The series deals with various people from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as "Fables" – who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York.
Has anyone here read any of them? I've been wanting to get into them for a while and I know I'm receiving the first volume as a gift for my birthday next week so this is my excuse to finally start them. I just wondered if anyone had read any and what they thought. :)

As far as I'm aware, it's along similar lines to OUaT (which I love obviously :hee:) with the whole "fairy tales and classic stories all mixed together / living in the real world" aspects, but much less family-friendly.

Yep I read a few, they're well written and pretty dark in a gritty crime way, kinda like film noir. I've only read three or four at the beginning.

I plan to go back to them.

Oh that sounds great. :)

And yeah, I've heard predominantly good things about them so I look forward to getting stuck in. :D

Yeah I've heard a lot of good about that too, I don't currently have a console but I'm tempted to change that just for the Telltale Fables and TWD games.

You don't even need a console to play it. if you got a decent PC or Laptop you can download it off Steam

Wolf Among Us is sensational, I've always meant to get around to reading the comics but there's just so many of them.

Oh wow, I'd never even heard of Steam before but I just looked into it. I definitely need to get round to playing it sometime, my friend has it and loves it. :)

Yeah, there's quite a lot. I believe the very final one was released recently in July (Issue 150), so it's nice to know there's now a complete story to look forward to. :)

I got the first two volumes of these today (the second was a nice surprise, I was only expecting one), so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in soon. :flutter:
